I got an app on my MacBook called Nagi #1 and it uses my mic to capture sounds and then turn the sounds into random modulated sine waves and creates a melody. It's all background ambient type music but it's really cool. Good focus music.

I had some cheap "on-the-ear" Sony headphones that were supposedly "Noise canceling". They always slid around on my ears and they had no depth so i needed something that was over-the-ear and had really good clarity. I got the M35's for like $50 and normally they were $120 so no complaints here!
