Fuck that noise, embrace who you are and where you came from. I love having a slight Oklahoman accent. It's been worn away over the years because 1) I haven't been in Oklahoma for some time and 2) in my job I talk to a LOT of people/give many presentations and find a more flat accent helps in communication. Having said that, (and I've never told her this) I would LOVE to have Keeker's soft Scot's accent. When she tells me of something that's happened during her week, it sounds awesome. Sure, it's word choice too, but still.

Oklahomans are great people by and large. Had a lot of fun taking the piss out of each others accents when we were there earlier this year. Damn I miss biscuits n gravy.

^Not something to wish for. :P My dialect (Trøndersk) is mocked whenever there is an opportunity.

To give a few examples:

"Some things are better in french":

"I'm a Trønder"

And I quote wikipedia:
A person from Trøndelag is called a Trønder. The largest city, unofficial capital of Trøndelag and also the first capital of Norway, is Trondheim (Sør-Trøndelag). The dialect spoken in the area is characterized by dropping out most vowel endings; see apocope.

Yeah.... :|

its not that bad, there is something compelling to nordic accents, however incredibly difficult to understand some happen to be (wifesy speaks a strong heavy skånska)

i am going to adopt a new accent and let this silly chilean one fade into oblivion

Aaah! Gotta love the skåne dialect. :D

My dialect is just clumsy, weird and hard for anyone to understand.
Even if you don't understand Norwegian, one should be able to hear that something isn't quite right with Trøndersk. :P

As for my English accent... uh... I dunno. D:

Mine is very much plain old Californian, although there are some hints of Australian creeping in there (for instance, my r's sometimes don't come out as clear as they used to). That said, I do like putting on different accents on occassion just for the hell of it.

Right now I'm trying to convince myself to go to sleep.

There's a beautiful Chilean girl who works in our reception office sometimes. Her, therefore your, accent sounds awesome! Don't knock it.

And, Skrimp, I have only heard you slip into your Oklahoma accent a couple of times and I was most captivated.

I suppose the point is most people's accents sound exotic to anyone from outside of their country. It's all good fun.

Eh up.
Speaking of accents, hurrr. Gonna Yorkshire t'thread up, ah tell thee.
I must say though, out of all the counties in England, there's such a gargantuan difference in dialect and accent between north/south/east/west Yorkshire that I've never heard of any other area of England sound so different between each town or village. It's a bit mental, lark. I sound like this, but with a womans voice (I promise):

Also, even though he's a twat, he's not wrong here:

15 minutes on my exercise bike. First time in a few years. :)
Probably be screaming and limping tomorrow, but good enough for now. 8)

EDIT: Just checked and I averaged 40kph. Not bad for a fat old bastid.

It was my overwhelming pleasure to have dinner with seven (7) lovely ladies from across the U.K. back in '02. It was in Manchester, at Mughli's on The Curry Mile.
3 were Scottish - 1 Kirkcaldy, 1 Edinburgh, 1 Glasgow
4 were English - 1 Scouser, 1 Mancunian, 1 Brummie, 1 Cockney.
It was a feast for the ears. :D
Add my bloody Aussie drawl into the mix, and it was quite a harmony.

It's not that I try NOT to have my normal accent, it's just that the Leicester accent can sound awfully stupid when it's laid on thick. People used to pronounce my sister's name as "Carl-eh" instead of "Carly" and it's always grated on me!
