A buddy of mine bought a car from a police auction once. Every now and then we'd get a whiff of something rancid. One weekend we decided to give the car a heavy detailing. While I was cleaning the leather seats in the back, I notice the smell was definitely stronger back there. I stuck my hand between the back and bottom cushions and touched something I thought may be old food.

It was a piece of skull with part of the scalp and hair still attached. There were a few other chunks down there as well. Probably should have notified the police about the newly-discovered probable evidence, but my buddy loved that car and was afraid they'd take it from him. lol

So I'm listening to Ki and there are parts that seem to very much foreshadow the clips of Decon I've seen. For those with the product, how much cross referencing is there? I was listening to Heaven Send especially thinking "Turn the distortion up and add some metuhl drumming and this reminds me of some Decon stuff."

Yup, pretty much the reason I jumped back on here. During Trainfire there is one section where Decon is freaking the fuck out in the background then it builds to the glorious metallic clusterfuck just before the break. Decon has had a definite effect on Ki as a listening experience. Es Mucho Positivo Amigo.
If I weren't so exhausted I'd bang on Addicted but as it stands now I gotta go chill with some smoke, a Latte and some American Gothic.
Tomorrow is another day. Can't wait!

Deconstruction wasn't for me, the stated album that after a listen I would need a break from ( only one song rides close to that edge: pandemic )...it was so well produced, heavy, soft, filled with so many elements that it was like having a break every 3 minutes while you're fully absorbed. So many changes in each song.

I see why Devin said the label was like, why are you doing this to us? I think the sillyness in parts kicks it back a notch from how serious this album kills. And I did need a moment on some songs to digest, but 80 percent of this thing makes me think Devin doesn't now have to question if he's creative minus drugs. He may have gotten better.

I was under the impression this album was going to be this dark metal thing, but some of the softer parts could have been some of the most amazing mellow songs I've ever heard. Though these moments are nothing more than short moments.

Honestly, I'm very impressed. I trust Devins work as if I expected it to be great anyway, but he gave more than expected. Although I fear this isn't anything that would take off commercially, mainly because its an album you can appreciate most, because you know Devins music already. And at the same time I think to myself....Devin should be freakin huge.

Zion, I think how short the soft, mellow moments are is what makes them so brilliant. After all the chaos, to just jump into something that beautiful is alarming as well as incredibly needed after listening to so much noise. I think the contrast definitely makes those parts more poignant than if they were, say, mellow tracks of their own.

Ahahahaha! Nasty!! My dad was a consultant engineer on a big police station project, and one day he found a pretty badass rucksack in evidence and thought "Hey, Violet might like this!" so he phoned me to ask and I was like "HELLS YES?". Then he came home without it....turns out he picked it up and the other side was covered in dried blood :|
