Sumeria is Great. Nothing more to say, just fucking great. So what's the story on that radio show, were they allowed to broadcast that song? I know YLE is quite legit, our very own BBC, so they propably wouldn't play it if they don't get the green light...
just listened to the track again, this time through headphones rather than crappy laptop speakers, and read the lyrics at the same time. Deconstruction, if each song is anywhere near as good as this track, is not even remotely going to dissapoint. There's certainly a different kind of heaviness to what I've heard from Devin's heavier side before... me likey.

The heaviness of this song is a lot more streamlined and controlled like the heavy parts on Ki, rather than the balls-out agression of SYL, and that's not bad at all. It's like Decon is shaping up to be the midlife crisis to City's teen angst, in a sense.
Sumeria is great, but I don't think anyone was expecting it not to be
The thing that I like most is the fact that just this one song from the album has made the album artwork (which I was a bit iffy on) make complete sense. The song really does sound like a demented, evil carnival and it just matches the artwork down to a tee; and I just can't wait to hear the album all the way through.
EDIT: And both guests sound great on this, if they are all this tastefully done and suit the song so well, i'll be one happy chappy!

i like the analogy...
the heaviness is a slower more intense kinda thing, measured. There is something of the meshuggah and the gojira to it in terms of its pace.. it sounds like a focussed angry man trying to say something that is productive as well as pissed... City was just pissed and was just an explosion of feeling, but had no clue how to go about producing something at the end... all hail the new flesh, erm shit, what do i do now that you're all staring at me *gulp*.

Woah! Who was the guy that said this song was "mid-tempo"? He has to be a total freak.

its not really very fast...... its not slow, but its got a grinding kinda mid-tempo thing going on for sure.

I said wow.
okey dokey....
the question I am asking myself is... do I read some Jung before hearing decon. I've wanted to read Jung for a while now, but never get round to it as there''s always some book more pressing at the time. Would I enjoy the lyrical content more if I got the Jungian references?

Got any youtube links to stuff you consider to be fast tempo? I really want to hear them.
dude, surely most of the syl stuff is faster than sumeria?... yeah there are some really quick moments in the track, fair enough (and I'm sure theres a couple of short blast beat sections) but the overall vibe I get is one which is a little more measured
of course you can have a completely differing opinion to me, and I meant absolutely no disrespect to you or what you think of the track... i apologise if I caused you offence

Lol! No offense taken. I was just was just wondering what metal you're listening to because this seems pretty fast to me. It sounds like a sonic whirlwind in my opinion. I'd love to hear something faster and more intense.
...i'ts great to be able to finally put some of those small parts from Deconstrupdate in the context, but wow, there's just so much happening within just one song!
This peaked my curiosity.

Time proves nothing stays.

I get the feeling that it is pretty midtempo, although there is tremelo picking and fast double bass, probably because of the vocal ryhthm, snare placements, that kinda shit.
Anyway, do we know what songs Dirk played on and what songs Ryan played on?
