UN-awesome?

Fucking Windows Vista suddenly becoming corrupt (with NO prior software or hardware adjustment) and claiming to be invalid.
Bad enough, but it then resists every attempt to re-activate using a perfectly legit product key...leaving the only option to purchase another one.

Fuckers.

Who has Windows 7? Is it any better than this dogturd? :furious:

I haven't extensively worked with either, but I do know that 7 is a big step up from Vista. Everyone (including Microsoft themselves) admits Vista was a mistake, a failure, a dogturd as you say. 7 is what Vista should have been.

Have you tried contacting the Microsoft customer support? They may be able to help you out with the activation problem.

Fun, isn't it? As far as I know it's still server related. Makes admining this place a true joy. If the pages aren't taking 3 minutes on average to load, I get a blank white screen, or the occasional SQL or general error message.

Unfortunately, I don't think fixing this place is high on the priority list.

Our business tech guy says 7 is great. Better, faster, stronger than Vista...which is what I have. Yay.

As a matter of fact, yeah.
I've been in phone and email contact with a guy from Microsoft in Manila (apparently Australia isn't a large enough market to have its own support centre) who has been quite helpful. It has gotten to the stage where I've had to take actual photos of my Vista CD (front & back) as well as the Certificate of Authenticity, and email it to them.
There the matter stands at the moment. I'm waiting for a reply.

And yes...what Steph said. :troubles:

7 is so much more optimized than Vista ever was. I noticed my memory usage sitting around 30% idle (that was at 2gb) and even lower when I added a 3rd.

Very, very few problems with it since I installed it. The biggest problem I had was that my old wifi card did not support 7. 2 cards later I have one that gives me incredible single consistently. (it also has an antenna that sits on my desk...)

Well, a happy ending.
They emailed me a new product key - which has worked, so I have the privilege of using my own computer for the foreseeable future. :P
I was getting tired of uninstalling and re-installing everything.

Still gonna jump at 7 at the first chance though.

Woo. I sent off the first draft of a script that I'm submitting to a festival on Monday to ten of my closest friends to get some feedback. Not a single response.

Fuck, I live with two of these people.

Four days and they haven't critiqued your script yet? Lazy fuckers. I sent the first draft of my 1200 page historical novel to my father and it took him more than a week to get back to me on it.

a little drunk when I wrote that and still am, but no, it's been weeks at this point for a 22 page first draft, and all I was looking for were for flow criticisms and continuity issues.

The deadline for the festival I'm submitting to is on Monday.

I know this seems like drunken whining, but this really is probably one of of the two or three most important things going on in my life, and I've bugged them about it over the last few weeks, and when your best friends can't seem to muster up the time or care to see what I've done in nearly a month's span, it does make you feel pretty shitty about your situation.

Feeling you have kind of stalled in your life (been for some times in fact) and wondering when you'll finally find the balls to start somewhere else (where ?) :|
Time passing by is not helping, neither is the economical situation.

Waking up each morning and wondering why the fuck you even bothered.

Stagnating isn't fun and I'm stuck for how to move things along.
