I would really hope that Devin is headlining that.

BTBAM is heavy 95% of the time and although it's good music, you can't listen to BTBAM when you feel like listening to soft music. Devin on the other hand, can play any type of music you can think of and I can play Devin to suit any mood and I really feel the Dev should headline any show tbh :)

It's ok if you dont get them. I understand.

I don't like them neither but i'm with brother Alucard, we can't go objective in music most of the time, i hate Behold The Arctopus for example, but there are many people who love them so maybe i don't understand their music

Behold is a different kind of band than BTBAM. I've heard people say BTBAM is like the heavy (and better) version of Dream Theater (at least now).

Some people just cant appreciate the musicianship in a band like BTBAM. Hell more than half the time those people just haven't heard "Colors" from start to finish.

I can't say that rumor would make me INCREDIBLY happy. I mean, Summit is a decent band and Cynic is alright...I'm not a big BTBAM fan, but I would hope for a show with more Devin time...one opening band is ideal, but maybe two. I dunno.

The rumor looks reliable-ish. It appears someone from the Masquerade in Atlanta leaked a January 9, 2010 date prematurely. Happens all the time. What looks funny is Cynic has some festival waaay the frick overseas around then and unless they've got a super-pro crew AND can play asleep on their feet first couple gigs might be iffy.
As for Dev headlining that bill, I'd be surprised. The package is kind of Prog-Metal themed. BTBAM has been pushed on me by perfectly tasteful Dev fans *and* kids who must be rendered sterile by their jeans *and* prog-nerds. Their cross section would be an appealing thing to promoters. Cynic used to be this legendary icon of the scene. Not sure about their status now as they ressurrected themselves and availability always makes stuff lame to the musical-taste-as-fashion crowd (aka the peeps who don't miss a gig because they have to pay for medicine for their kids, make mortgage on time, work an extra shift so they don't get fired, etc. etc.)
But hey... if it's only a 45 minute set and you *know* Dev deserves 90 minutes car pool and hit two gigs. Worked for me. I may miss Strapping but there's only one gig I regret not being at and 11 worth of memories.

Well think yourselves lucky in the US if this is happening! He's only playing one date over here and it's a festival so christ knows how little time he'll get...

I'll echo the sentiments of a few other people on here and say don't judge BTBAM until you listen to 'Colors' from the start. They CAN be a bit technical at the expense of songs AT TIMES but not really on that album. 'Obfuscation' from the new album sounds a bit too flashy without having a hook in it for me, but it's still pretty good stuff.

And I'd LOVE to see Cynic. Don't know the other band.

Anyway - be thankful!
