I notice you're rerecording over the same bit a lot, do you end up using every single one of these takes layered, or are you just using the best takes out of all the ones that have been taken? I'm curious as to how many vocal layers you typically use for a single part (as opposed to a different harmony), for the more multilayered songs.

Man, I wish I could sing like that (especially the bits with insane amounts of vibrato), but unlike guitar I have zero interest in putting the effort in to actually become good at singing in any way.

4-1 ratio, fast attack, fast release, compress enough to make the needle move, flat eq to tape, stereo delay to tempo.

...and the 6176, not the 1176...it has a pre as well.

I love watching behind-the-scenes/making of videos about making music. I especially like watching how the vocals come to be, interesting stuff Dev. Really neat sounding as well.

The delay is set to the tempo of the track, in crotchets or quavers or whatever.

What technique did you use for the scream at 5:34?
"Larn? What is that?"

I'll bet these videos and ten million more will be in the box set, as part of the bonus DVDs.

Thanks! :D

Yeah, I just meant 6176 has the same 1176 compressor built in it, right? Or is it somehow different?

Hi there Dev, just wondering if there's any chance of an Addicted teaser trailer at all like the one we had for Ki? That would be awesome, the youtube clips have never got me this excited for a release before, the vocal tracking is awesome, such a simple way of recording them, no vox booth, pop shield or the like. Rather basic but very cool nonetheless doing it at the mixing desk hehe. Keep rocking dude. :D

Hello Dev, I have a question about your vocal tracking technique. I just watched the video of you tracking your vocals. Doesn't the music from the monitors bleed in on your vocal tracks? I always use headphones to listen when adding tracks (I am a guitar player not a singer). Is this how you achieve that "wall of sound" by recording in that manner? Just curious since I have been getting more interested in recording techniques as of late.

Good Question. All I get from monitors bleeding into the mic is a wall of shit.
