Devy said he is going to remix Addicted again because he believes he went too far with it and lost his confidence (which seemed to be quite a bit after those rough youtube clips). He didn't say anything about re-recording the album with clean tones. Besides, if he did the whole album would be completely different. Those clips that were on youtube couldn't be done without distortion. Wouldn't sound the same at all.

gah.

Does this mean Addicted will have a more clean guitar sound than the distortion we heard? As long as Annekes vocals are still present I need not worry.

I doubt. As i mentioned earlier, Addicted is already recorded and Devy only said he wanted to start the mixing freah. Not the whole album. I highly doubt he would dump the whole thing. Would Anneke's vocals still fit? Or would he have to get her to come back and record again? Could he afford that? Dump her all together? Dump the recordings of everyone else and start fresh because the songs just don't match up with the new clean tone? I doubt.

I think Devy is refering to future work. Maybe Decon? Maybe more likely 4th? No one knows except him.

Ravonite wrote:True, but I think it's because people loved what they were shown in the previews. If something then suddenly changed I think people would be a little disappointed. But in the land of HevyDevy NO ONE IS DISAPPOINTED.

This quote is full of truth.

The Dev wrote:Yup, lots of confusion...imagine being in a band led by me! Gaaawwwd...

I'm going to leave the forum for a few days...everything is as it was...it's just pushed back a month or so.

New site within the next week and a half with the video and new interviews.

Thanks for the patience...just thought I'd flit in and fuck shit up, thanks for the support though, you guys help.

Just thought you should know that I appreciate the flitting in. I follow this forum religiously to see what is going on in your head while creating the albums that I love so much. Its also funny to see what an artistic personality you have. Thanks for all the updates.. they don't just confuse people

Good luck

Good things come to those who wait.
I don't want Dev to put his personal happiness and the happiness of his family ahead of anything. Certainly not a record.
Take your time Dev. You know we'll be here when you get done :-)

I think it's interesting that some people seem to be worried about the delay of Addiction. Most bands take five years or more between albums and it's only been a couple of months since Ki came out. Of course, I was as excited about the new album as anyone else, and hopefully we don't have to wait five years, but I'd rather hear something he's happy with than something rushed.

I'm going to start again in 3 weeks mixing, this time...I'm not going to let anybody hear until it's done.

I remember loving it 2 weeks ago, it's amazing how comments on rough mixes by the people close to me shot me confidence.

What a dweeb...

I'm going to mix the records I've commited to here, do a couple of small things, then get back at it...

dtp is still on...it's a brain fuck though.

gaaahhhh.

Figuring shit out in public again...awesome.

...did I mention I want to play clean guitar?

gah.

Aw, I feel your pain. It's a bugger when you bite off a chunk you think you can handle, but soon you realise how big it truely is. If you haven't already, write a list of everything you need to do, and then put it in order of importance first. Oh, and not things you think you need to do to please us straight away. :P No one needs instant graditfication. :P

Then, space it equally apart as you can, and in the gaps between the things you have to do, force yourself to rest and do the things you want to do. 8)

And most importantly.

Don't panic!

It's nice to hear Dev say that our positivity helps.

Dude....whatever you do....don't ever let folks get you feeling down about your art. You make sound beautiful in the eyes of so many that I wouldn't be so worried, you know? It's a real treat for some of us to get to hear works in progress (great example is Dan's -daneuphelus- stuff on his myspace!) The general fan base you have isn't of the sort who appreciate shit-on-a-shingle just because it came from you. When we say we like something it is because it is good...pure and simple. However, I think we can all appreciate where you are coming from on the decision to hold off on sharing anything more until you're done.

Big breath everyone - the pressure to release so soon after Ki...just, wow. The feeling from some has seemed to me to be a little pushy lately, to be honest. Perhaps Addicted is a more a propos title than originally intended! I know we are all excited to hear the new stuff but making him feel that pressure when he is so good to us on all levels is really pretty unfair. We waited while he took a break - and survived. We can wait for the forthcoming albums to come in Dev's time because we all know they will be something for which it is worth waiting. :amen:
