Since I've gotten into EWQL software I've really wanted to experiment with some piano programs for music. I just can't figure out which program to get. Does EWQL have any good piano programs? Do you know of any others that are worth while? I could record my own grand piano but it's at my house and the people I live with have no respect for recording. I can't get them to shut up when I record live stuff! So that's out of the question! :(

So if any of you know any programs it would really get me out of a predicament! Thanks!

I almost wish I would have gotten Goliath or colossus instead of symphonic orchestra/stormdrum/choir

I end up defaulting to the piano program in Protools 8, it sounds great and is not cpu intensive.

So there.

With the vast amounts of plug-ins out there, it's really easy to get carried away and only spend time collecting and learning plug-ins - which results in little or no MUSIC actually being made from them... kinda defeating the object. :|

Devin, what are your opinions on all the software you've used/tried out throughout your career?

I bought the EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Bundle.
It has good grand pianos and stuff.

I have that too.

They're good, but there are better i think.

EWQL do have their own piano soft synths... which seem to be good.
You can usually hear demo's of each of the softwares, so just look around and see which sounds amaze you the most.

Option anxiety is the killer. I've worked with assistants that are so hyped on showing my 200 different versions of the thing I need that I waste an hour just filtering through the shit.

I know what I want, and I usually take the first or second option. Time is the important thing, so if I need a piano for example, I know which patch in Motu works, and I know what patch in pt8 works, and I just go for it depending on the application... or if it needs real piano (trainfire, lady helen etc)

I hate the : Oh you need a train sound? Lets spend two hours finding the perfect one. My ear tells me right away if I need to keep looking, but commiting is the key.

Hehe... Agreed...

I have Korg M1 software and I only use like 4 or 5 of the hundreds and hundreds of sounds. Damn thing seems hardly worth it, but that's why soft-synths rock. I can lay down something mundane with one patch and test out a thousand others even after I've laid down the part.

Also, I have to personally admit I was disappointed at first my microkorg didn't have any 'realistic' sounds, but I found that I honestly like the analog-style bloops and bleeps better than most samples anyway.

yeeeah, but I'm going to smear it with reverb anyways, so ...? ...um, can I just use that one?

Haha I've been waiting for a good place to say this, but the reverb on that train whistle gives me chills every time I hear it
