I've got pretty mild synesthesia--colors come with everything: sounds, words, emotions, and all. Nothing with touch, really, though. And only really mild tastes and smells come with certain things. It's actually really cool at times, and at others just sort of irritating, but mostly I'm glad I've got it (so mildly).

Beanie, that sounds a bit intense. I can't imagine having that strong of a sensation so often.

EDIT: Oh, and Ki sounds great! Can't wait to hear it--also excited about the bonus disc! :D

I can't wait for this album, sounds like a good mix of sounds.

Also a quick question for dev, would this "American company" you are currently working with happen to be Peavey? I noticed you are on the schedule at the Peavey booth at this years NAMM. Just curious, take care.

Yea it can be pretty intense. Sometimes it makes it so that I dont want to leave the house or go in public. Sometimes it makes it so the world feels like such an intense ovewhelimg place but it also allows me to see the world the way no one else does. But in order to keep it managable I have to always make sure my mental health is intact. I always have to talk to psyciatrists and tell them how I feel so they can adjust my medication accordingly. If chemicals change in my brain (which happens to everyone all the time) then I need my meds adjusted again. It helps control the evil voices in my head and my OCD symptoms. When Im well the voices are pretty much non existant and I dont obsess too much. when Im not well these voices keep telling me evil things that hurt me and then my synesthesia symptoms are all unpleasent ones. Such a complication thing autism is. Even my doctors had a hard time finding the right treatment plan for me (took years of trial and error) but now its really given me way more of a quality of life. Im very lucky that I learned how to communicate and reach out for help where as a lot of autistic people are unable to talk or tell people how they feel which results in them being misunderstood and having a feeling of aloneness. I like to call myself a high functioning lunatic  Lifes really good to me now and I try my best to have an understanding of all types of people including the madness.

Wow Im an endless well of useless information! But it always seems to the the really useless info thats intriguing.

I think Im gonna go take a nap. I ate a shitload of white snapper and it was fooking awsome now Im gonne fall asleep while watching Animal Planet.

If you look closely, he does on the Synchestra DVD and one of the Becoming The Archetype webisodes.

Can't wait for the new album. Well I can but I look forward to it immensely. The music has seen such a crazy ride and though I feel it nearly impossible to name any certain thing as my "favorite", my obsession with Devin Townsend's music has lasted longer than those with any other musician or bands. Listened to Alien in a mental hospital and to Synchestra when I got out. So many perfect tones and nearly subliminal details and music from the heart-that's what its all about. I hope to be able to express every depth of my mind without giving a fuck if anybody else thinks its' "cool" the way Devin has.

I experienced visuals from music, a lot... closed eye, or just mental pictures. It seems like my brain natural assumed an acoustic /spacial environment where the sound could exist. That often includes colors. Oh, and thanks for sharing your experiences being autistic, it's really interesting.

I get in wild manic periods and extremely depressive states... often within the span of the same day. The first half will be like the best of my entire life, the second half will be like the worst. I could probably be diagnosed with something, but I've never talked to enough psychologists for that. I feel very intensely, although I do consider myself mostly stable these days. Devin's music and lyrics always made a lot of sense to me... Infinity and Physicist. I feel Physicist is akin to the stage of development my personality is in.

I feel Devin's music is made by and for people like us / me.

Thats interesting stuff - I get visuals from music or reading all the time. I'm sure some people take advantage of the fact that I automatically see what I read :(

But seriously - (And if you don't mind me saying so) Have you looked into Bi Polar at all? There's a form called rapid cycling, and what you saying sounds like you could fit into that 'catagory.' Devin has Bi-Polar as well, which could be why his lyrics make a lot of sense too. I'm looking into it myself as I'm mildly concerned I may have it, but I know I certainly don't have an extreme case. But the fact his lyrics make sense too... Interesting :P
But then saying that, it's easy enough to kinda, disect his lyrics and kinda figure them out anyway. Although I guess we couldn't find his true meaning of them, as we do not know his mind inside out :P

Unless of course we gota mind reader there while he was making the album. I guess they would know. :P

Mazaro, sounds very much like bi-polar to me- I worked as an assistant to a psychotherapist for a few years, and met a lot of people who had the disorder or at least traits of it. I've often wondered if I have it too- I'm sure I at least show symptoms of it, but I've never been diagnosed. Of course, I could just be paranoid from working in psychotherapy- kind of like the hypochondriac doctor stereotype  . As for Dev's music, I feel like a combination of Infinity and Alien showcase bipolar perfectly (and of course the song "Wrong Side")- and I definitely feel like I understand where Dev's coming from with those albums. I never really thought of Physicist as a related to bi-polar, but I suppose it's possible...

Also, I don't really get synesthesia so much (though I find Dev's albums in particular very easy to visualize), but I do associate colors with numbers. Every number has one or several specific colors, and after 10 they work in sets of 10, with each number in a set having a different gradient of the same color.
