I just swapped my old 17" CRT to shiny new 22" LCD panel and now it feels like I have acres of space on my desktop (both real and virtual one). Hooray technology.

I've had a 20" widescreen monitor for about 2 years now I think. I totally love it, love the large area and I would never want to go back to a 'square' monitor again. Took some time getting used to not maximizing every window though ;)

As for the Acer Aspire One... I've never found working on a laptop quite as comfortable as working on a desktop computer, only because of the fact that the screen is attached to the keyboard. Add to that the fact that your new monitor is only a forth of the size of that CRT you have, and that you're definitely going to notice the small keyboard. I've tried typing on an Asus Eee PC and failed horribly :P

I'd just like to say that I think those netbooks are far from ideal for everyday working use. Good luck to you though ;)

I've never had much trouble adapting to laptops (I had to use one as my main computer for about 6 months a couple years back), so I don't think it'll be a problem for me. The keyboard's also much bigger than the Eee PC's. :)

I've never had a problem either on this laptop. The keyboard is full-size... or maybe I just have wee fingers but I don't think so. As for the Aspire, the keyboard looked fine to me when I had a look at one in the shop, and since it is intended for an 11 year old I reckon it will be more than comfy for her. I will, of course, be thoroughly testing it before I wrap it up for Christmas. 8)

Acer Aspire One arrived. Haven't had time to do more than have a quick peek before hiding it until daughter is not in the house. On first inspection it is very dinky and nice looking.

Damn, mine still isn't here. It keeps getting delayed... Now it's supposed to arrive in a few hours (originally it was this morning), I just hope it won't get delayed to tomorrow.

Aspire One arrived today! Loving it so far. So damn tiny, light, and portable, but the screen and keyboard are the perfect size (for me anyway). The only problem I have with the keyboard is not to do with its size, but the placement of the shift key. I keep hitting / by accident (and also hitting \ instead of enter). I'll get used to it though, I've only had it a few hours after all :)

Those tiny portables awake my must-have nerve. I have no real use for one (that I know of), they just look so sweet. :)

How's the Aspire holding up power wise? Can it run XP fluently for example?

Atom 1,6Ghz is about equivalent of PIII/1Ghz, so should do.

(My bro has Asus EEE with 8,9" screen. It's indeed nifty).

Cool...One thing I'd love to have is a relly good mic, and a portable. Then bring them with me wherever I go and record cool ambient sounds.
