Hadn't heard Katatonia or Nevermore before....really good so far though!

No idea what a lot of you were talking about when you say that Warrel Dane has a bad voice, I am really loving it so far anyway.

Geddy Lee...now THAT is a tough one to get used to.

Lots of people seem to think Dane has a 'bad voice.' That makes literally no sense to me. He's obviously very accomplished, sings with an almost operatic style but with a lot more bite-- Even if you don't like his style, I find it baffling that anyone could say he has a bad voice.
Er, anyway. Nevermore are awesome.

I had the video Final Product downloaded for a year or more and I hated it on the first, second and third listens. Then I let it rest. Then I saw I, Voyager on Headbanger's ball and also Final Product again and one more and now ... well, NOW it sinks in. Yesterday I played it again - twice in a row - and yes, it took me more than a fucking year to start appreciating the little jewels, the intricate close vocal harmonies, the riffing ownage, the guitar solo attitude, the clever composition ... so now I'll probably buy the Nevermore record. Fuck me. And a year ago I was ready to swear I'll never listen to this crap. That shows ya ... One is a dick until one knows better (like that means something).

And that's one of their "weaker" albums. The Politics Of Ecstacy, Dreaming Neon Black and This Godless Endeavor are their best releases and timeless classics IMO! And so is Sanctuary's Into the Mirror Black (Warrel Dane and Jim Sheppard pre-Nevermore).

I haven't heard the first release of EoR, but I bought the remix and thought it was just as good as their other albums. I can't stand Dreaming Neon Black at all.

And thanks to Brother Lars for the alert, I've just pre-ordered Porcupine Tree's "Holy Grail" CD - Moonloop, from Freak Emporium.

......and it arrived today.
