The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

A long time ago I was going through alll the songs I have from all of Devins albums, and i decided to make my own 'Best Of' mix. I put together all the best songs I could fit on a CD.
I've been listening to it for the past year now and it's kind of turned into it's own kind of album to me. I thought I'd share it with you all now.

Some of you may disagree with the picked songs, but like I said I put all the best songs on the CD that I could fit. So Bastard and Earth Day were out of the question when I tried to put more songs in >_<

But there's a reason for the tracklisting I made. It all has a unique new flow to all the songs. It's like combining all of his greatest works in a way that flows like all of his other albums.. only together.

(also, I had a crossfade and fade effect on some songs to help it flow better. and it sounds great. I don't know how I would be able to do that for you guys though. But it still sounds great anyway)
Here's the tracklisting:

Two Weeks (Strapping Young Lad)
Bad Devil
Life
Deep Peace
Canada
Down And Under
Material
Christeen
Sit In The Mountain
The Fluke
Nobody's Here
Life Is All Dynamics
Unity
Stagnant
Things Beyond Things

And there it is. I know you've all heard these songs before, but it may be kind of fun to mix them all up and experience them in a whole new way. It 's like an alternative adventure through Dev's music.

I also made a "Part 2" as well. I pretty much included all the songs I wanted to include on Part 1 but didn't have enough room. I'll post that later though.

also, I just recently discovered that Down And Under and Hypergeek/Triumph flow PERFECTLY together (with the right fade). only you probably wouldnt be able to fit it on a CD, but you could put it in on a playlist :)

It's interesting that you started with Two Weeks. All of the Dev or DTB albums have a great opening song, but they all really introduce that particular record. Still I've got a feeling that 3/4 of the Dev complilations out there start with Truth.

I kinda started with Two Weeks because I thought starting it with Bad Devil was a bit awkward. It needed to build up to it. So i threw Two Weeks on there just to expiriment a little, and it seems to go really good. At the end of Two weeks it gets all spooky and sad sounding, with the crying in the background and all. and then the spooky choir sounds of Bad Devil come in and it takes off.

I know what your talking about though. And it kind of does with this mix. It's relaxing. it's different. Think of this as an alternate adventure through his works. It may not be perfect, but it is still an interesting listen

Wow, someone else like me. I love making devin compilations. And like you said, the crossfades make a huge difference. (At least to me, anyway)
I'll try your list tonight, it's really different from any i've done. It will be cool to hear someone else's order.
For what it's worth, here's my most recent. It's 2 discs, but i figure what the hell :D
Disc one:
Let It Roll
Hypergeek
Triumph
Storm
Olives
Mountain
Deep Peace
Babysong
Vampolka
Vampira
Mental Tan
Gaia
Two Weeks
Deadhead
Planet Rain

Disc two:
Locate(Only the first 1:15, then it fades into Earthday)
Earthday
Canada
Down and Under
Nobody's Here
Pixillate
Judgement
Tiny Tears
Love Load
A Simple Lullaby
Sunset
Notes From Africa
Sunshine And Happiness

Really Synchestra and Terria heavy I know, but these songs seem to go great together.

I don't like Best Of-mixes. They kill the atmosphere only an entire album can create.

i love making playlists with good flow between each track which isn't intended, this is the best transition i have in the last list i made:

Dream Theater - Never Enough
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 3
Devin Townsend - Voices in the Fan

the transition between Pink Floyd + Voices in the Fan is amazing.

here's my hevydevy list:

1. Truth
2. Namaste
3. Earth Day
4. Deep Peace
5. Storm
6. War
7. Hide Nowhere (the end is similar to the ending of A Simple Lullaby)
8. Sunset
9. Notes From Africa
10. Forgotten (Bare with me, the rain provides a nice transition)
11. Seventh Wave
12. Ocean Machines

bare in mind its for good flow purposes so some good songs are left out, like Bastard because it starts and ends immediately.

I think that disc is GREAT! Very soothing to me. My only complaint is that it's so short. 8)
