Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Torn is definitely leaps and bounds better than Monday Morning Apocalypse, but Evergrey has gone through many changes over the years, I find it hard to really sit down and make honest comparisons. Their first couple albums were more on the proggy side, and they have recently taken on a heavier-yet-more-approachable sound (not that its a bad thing). The third, fourth, and fifth albums are where I believe they found a good balance, and I see a lot of that balance in Torn. But the dynamics and gusto of their albums really differs album to album, so I don't think its a matter of them being as good as they were as much as it is a matter of them incorporating the same elements into their songs as they had before.

It's good but I don't like it as much as Ruun and Isa, the other Enslaved albums I'm familiar with.

I f***ing love it! I honestly think it's the number one Enslaved album. Although it's pretty hard to compare this "new era" to the early black metallish and more viking metal type of stuff that they were doing..
The beginning of Clouds was the greatest thing in music for a long time when I first heard it. And there's not much (none?) lame stuff in the rest of the album either.
I got a chance to see them live in Helsinki last December (the day before full-lenght Cynic concert) and the new tracks sounded great!! Even though the sounds were way heavier compared to Vertebrae's airy production that I liked. But that's just understandable and it was still good :)

The intro to Clouds is one of the best I've ever heard, ranks up there with some of Opeth's intros in terms of "epicness"

DTB - Gaia

Lovely song. The song that actually got me into Dev's stuff outside of SYL.

Have 'Torn'. Bored me out of my mind. Doesn't reach any great heights whatsoever, to my ears.

Oooh, Sunna. One of these cool forgotten bands. Video for "power struggle" used to be aired on cool German music channel Viva zwei back in 90s, I think.

It's weird how they made only one record then vanished without a trace.

And if we're at similiar music, God Lives Underwater was also rather cool.

Indeed, we are, Bruno. I love me some GLU. I was especially enamored of "Life in the So-Called Space Age"
Bonus: There are rumors of a second SUNNA album entitled "Two Minute Terror" that have surfaced.

HAha didnt know if anyone else here knew of Ghost Machine! Motograter is writing a new album, but that dude wont be doing vocals :(

Also what do you think of the new Static? I think it has some solid tracks on it, the production seems so soft though...

Static going soft...I think you're right. It's not grabbing me too much, the new record.

I've listened to it close to 3 times, some of the songs are almost like classic Static, while others just dont fit well with their style. I was really expecting good things what with them doing so well on Cannibal and even re-using the old Static logo...
