Frost*- Experiments in Mass Appeal

It will be a grower....I am sad it is not as "blue" as Milliontown, but it is REALLY good and I will try appreciating it for what it is, not what it isn't.

Are the vocals more tolerable? The guys from Coheed are pretty good musicians.

Actually a lot of the vocals have some deep reverb effects on them, and sounds similar to that of Jane's Addiction ("Coming down the mounTAAAAAAIN"), so it'll please some and turn off others. I've always enjoyed Claudio's vocal stylings, though...the simple fact that he can sing the tight structures of the lyrics AND play the complex guitar riffs and fills he does is damn impressive. But the band has sort of a funk/punk/rock vibe, which is a killer combo. The energy of their live show seems to have been captured, and some of the tunes definitely have a heavier sound than some of Coheed's earlier material (their last two albums had some stuff that definitely smeared the line between rock and metal). It was a younger and less focused band, but is equally as intriguing and entertaining as the material they've put out under their more recent moniker. And oddly enough, at one point the guitarist Travis Stever left the band, making them a three-piece and that much more impressive.

Nice nice. I've been intrigued by Coheed's music since I heard "Welcome Home". Havent dove into their music yet, but it's a consideration...Especially if, like you said, their newest albums have more metal elements. They seemed like they could pull it off with the talent they posses.

Chill, downloaded it right after your mention, needed bit of time to evaluate it - it's different.

;) understandable. I had to let it grow on me, but it only took me about 2 or 3 days before I fell in love with it.
