Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

lol you may have saved my life - it's getting a little shark-tankish in here, innit? Let's just all hold hands and sing Coast. Ew, let's not actually. I hate holding hands :D I could go for The Gossamer Strand though - because I haven't heard it YET, but intrinsically I know it rules.

And I'm sure you all could've gone without knowing I had a cool bald guy list. Perhaps I need a flaming after all!
So, anyone listening to any power metal?

I do. It makes me cool and open-minded. There's some people on this forum (like Brunon) who don't listen to power metal. It makes them lame and close-minded. Power metal is the key to being open minded.

I prefer my gluegrass and pagan glitchcore albums.

In my book, BrunoN could say he listens to pagan glitchcore, or whatever, and I would still think he was super cool. Oh wait...
I prefer my gluegrass and pagan glitchcore albums.

Double points for Graves!

Psh. His name's Buddy. :D

Ohhh ok... I see where you stand  Wow, the Buddy/Devon debate is seerious bizness isn't it? I heard Faded the other day though and really liked it. There's lots to love about both! He's Austrian? I didn't know that, he's 100% bilingual?

Wow, playing guitar with a bow? Props.

Nah, I doubt it's serious business. I just think if you give yourself a silly stage name, it should be impossible to escape it. Plus I never really got into Deadsoul Tribe, but I had a decent Psychotic Waltz phase. And as for PW albums, their first two, A Social Grace and Into the Everflow are way above the later two (Mosquito and Bleeding), in my opinion. You should check them out and see how Bud got his act started.

And there's the bow: first he's calling himself Tull, then he's changing it to Page. He just can't stand to be out of someone else's spotlight.

On topic? Supertramp!

GuyOne wrote:Arch Enemy - Blood On Your Hands

Just found out today that Arch Enemy will be releasing a CD soon with re-recorded tracks from their first three albums. Sounds fucking killer since the new vocalist rips. Arch Enemy is one of the few Swedish melodic death metal bands that I believe have been consistently good album after album. Though Anthems of Rebellion was a *little* of a downer I still think it kicks compared to other Swedish bands... *cough* In Flames *cough*.

That might be interesting, I'd really like to hear a few of the old songs with better guitars. I dont think I've ever liked the vocals in Arch Enemy at all. I think Angela's were tolerable when she joined, but then they went waaaay downhill. Some of the old songs have such a powerful vibe to them. Needless to say I'm intrigued even though I do not like Angela's voice anymore.

NP: Cilice - Deranged Headtrip

Again. This album is insanity.

Fixed. ;)

Music isn't a huge philosophy thing for me. Power metal never takes itself seriously. I's great

Speaking of which:

NP: Gamma Ray - From The Ashes

Zactly. Too many people hate power metal for it being too cheese to be called "metal"... but, thats what its meant to be. TOO cheesey, lol.

But still, thats only a small percentage. A lot of power/symphonic metal bands have awesome talent (Kamelot being one of them. Amazing vocalist, and the songs are decent musically; not just something to party to)

My early metal days were pretty much only that kinda music. First ever proper gig was to see HammerFall. It was AWESOME.

Heh, power metal was my introduction to the wide world of metal. Started with HammerFall's album Crimson Thunder actually. "Hearts On Fire" to be even more precise. Awesome.

Some exerpts from my previously played songs (to keep me from posting in this thread for another week :P ):
They Might Be Giants - Cowtown
Kaki King - Night After Sidewalk
King's X - Groove Machine
Devin Townsend - Solar Winds
Textures - Awake
Reuben - Tonight My Wife Is Your Wife
Rush - The Weapon
Symphony X - Paradise Lost
The Shizit - Audio Jihad II

Oh man, Devon Graves has like... pfft 20 personalities. Awesome. I dig the bow on guitar, must make for some interesting sounds - but I'm bummed out that they wouldn't be touring in America anytime soon. I looked up some tour dates and they were mostly in Europe. Why does that always happen with everything I love?! :apple:

Listening to this:
I honestly don't really know what going on with this song because... well, listen to it. But if I'm not waaay off on this, I believe I hear 4/4, some 5/4, and then possibly some alternating 5/4 and 4/4. But, I really don't know, this song is not for the faint of heart.
