and why not elsewhere in over 200 disregarded countries?
as if UK, US & Can were the navels of the world, common.. :coucou: I would have gotten the point if he did these shows in CAN though 8)

I hate to say this, as much as I love Dev, when it's going to come to the other two gigs which will be guaranteed in larger venues than 800 capacity... London'll be a guaranteed sell-out in a major city with awesome film crews, and with a great live crowd.

I think it could be done in New York, Vancouver or LA, but it'd not likely be a guaranteed sellout, and the crowd in LA would be terrible.

EDIT: WHY DON'T I GUARANTEE A FEW MORE THINGS. GUARANTEED.

London is the best location in the world for gigs, it's surrounded by airports with express connections, you can jump on the eurostar in Paris or Brussels and jump off at Kings Cross St Pancras (like, a 5 minute walk from Union Chapel) 2 hours later. It takes longer than that for me to go to fucking Nottingham! It's just an very easy city to get to, we got a big range of venues, lots of shit to do during the day (I've been to Liverpool for a gig, decided to stay with some friends for a few days, the first day they took me to the museum of Liverpool then had ran out of stuff to show me!). Yeah it does have it's downs as well, but all in all it's a pretty badass place to be! And I'm sure when Cory comes to see it in person he'll never want to leave 8) (Either way I'm keeping him.)

Is there gonna be a HevyDevy Forums meet up? I'm pretty much moving to a different city between now and then (going to University in September) so I'll end up going by myself.

There must be something in general that bands/producers like about the UK when it comes to live DVDs, because it seems as though the vast majority are filmed in the UK, regardless of the band's nationality. I think it must be the venues and crowds.

Just from the gigs I've attended, I've been on live DVDs for the following:

Green Day - National Bowl, Milton Keynes
The Prodigy - National Bowl, Milton Keynes
Linkin Park - National Bowl, Milton Keynes
Slipknot - Hammersmith Apollo, London (filmed but only shown on MTV)
Slipknot - Donington Park
Strapping Young Lad - Donington Park
Sex Pistols - Brixton Academy, London
Bowling For Soup - Apollo, Manchester
Placebo - Brixton Academy, London
Opeth - Royal Albert Hall, London

Upcoming:

Devin Townsend Project - Union Chapel, London

So, it's a pretty popular country to film live DVDs in.

True dat. Devin just does not have a big following in Canada or the US, at least compared to overseas. Audiences over here can be hit or miss, too. I think San Francisco would be a great spot, but overall the UK is just a smarter move.

It would sure save on the commute, and it was packed... but Slim's is a pretty small venue.

Plenty of forum regulars will be there so I'm sure having a few pints here and there (or other daytime stuffs) will be possible. :)

I think that´s probably a safe asumption, at least if you take this forum as a reference. Seems like a majority of members are Brits or at least most of the active ones!

Dev does have a pretty concentrated fanbase here, I think he was kinda surprised that the UK ticket sales went so well XD The Islington gig next week sold out in several days!

You are waxing lyrically.

But yeah, forum meet up is in the pipeline, Tyroshai, myself and a few other members shall organise a proper itnery (list of attendees, mobile number exchange, meeting points, ideas for activities etc.) as a helluva lot of people will be coming from outside of London, it'll be a good opportunity for people to really get to know each other and check out this gorgeous city! :D Remember your bulky cameras, sun visors, sandels, upside down maps and bumbags!
