Supposedly there's a ton of extra features, easter eggs and such. Yes you could probably do it all in 3 DVDs, but I also think it's for the lack of confusion. Either way I'm making a 5 hour version of the damn thing straight through.
Though I hear what you guys are saying about a DVD only version, some people will probably like the audio separately. This guy included.
