Listened to Sumeria all morning... then I had to listen to Ki (the album) twice to process it.

... now I'm back on the Sumeria roll again. 8)
Let's just say I'm glad Ghost will be released simultaneously and not later. :P

When I first started listening to SYL and the solo albums, I was pretty much the same as what Dev just described.

Nowadays its pretty much straight the way through with no issues. But thats probably a change in my musical attitude then anything :)

I know what you mean. It's happened to me many times, including Addicted!... but I have this odd ability to "reset" it by listening to the track in context with the album over and over and over and over and over again.
Now THAT'S gonna turn my brain into jelly. This will be great summer. :D

In one regard, I'd be okay if Decon was the last album I heard (because of ear bleedage, etc). But then again, I can't WAIT for the transition from Decon to Ghost.

Excellent stuff, Dev. We're all very hyped up.

Holy crap Dev... Sumeria is... I don't even know how to describe it. You're right, really nothing like SYL (which is incredible that you removed yourself that much from that type of heaviness to make this type). It's so fucking dense, god, in a good way. Whoo. It was like exhausting listening to it, once again in a good way, just so many layers. Man. Can't wait to hear the complete vision. I'm just still blown away. When the soft piano(?) comes in at the end its subsequently terrifying and relief, like I get to breath but what is coming next to kick me in the ass lol. Love it. Thanks Dev.

It's really epic, and each time I listen I notice a new section I like, but I absolutely love the chorus, if that's what you'd call the "Hunger For God" bit.

EPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIICCCCCC'

I also really like the carnival sounding section that starts at about 1:39 and 4:22, that section suits the album covers theme I get awesomely.

It's fuckin zany and awesome! :D Cannot wait for the CD so we can hear all the little tiny details/nuances floating around in the background, like with most Dev releases :D :D

DECONSTRUCTION, BRING IT!!!

With the more complex stuff from Dev, I tend to need many, many listens. Usually every song I will find something to latch onto the first time though, and once I get comfortable with that, I find something else the next time through. Eventually I'll get the whole picture. It's just like watching a complex film and going "What the fuck did that mean?" And then on the second viewing, you notice a subplot you missed the first time because you were focusing on the main storyline. The the whole thing starts to come together.

These first couple of songs I can just focus mainly on the basics. The overall sounds, instrumentation, structure, mix, etc. I won't be able to dig any deeper than that out of context. My brain knows I am missing the big picture, so it won't even try to go any further.

I can guarantee I could listen to these songs 1,000 times over, and it would not effect my impression of them when the album is released. There will be a familiarity, but that's about it.

Good point from Devin!

But... Indeed, it is so damn hard to not listen to this beautiful song over and over again! I fell in love with Sumeria at first listen! It is so cool to finally hear the role of the orchestra in the whole mix. And the song is just mindblowingly awesome! Complete chaos in a controlled manner... That is exacly how my brains work so this song drives me crazy! If the rest of Deconstruction is just as awesome - which I do expect - my head will explode before the end of June...

Can... Not... Wait... BRING IT! :x :D
