Really awesome about Omerch!

Dev, you've been a real trooper through this period, I know you're also departing with some pretty sentimental gear just to keep doing what you do, I know I couldn't do that! Very proud of you guys.

I wish you the best of luck with ZTV! And remember we're all here if you need us! (well, I am regarding puppets and making shit, I'm good at explaining stuff!)

So i've listened to aboot 4 tracks from decon from youtuub, and i'm impressed. Very much. And fear not devin, to me this was some heavy music (this comes froma dude who mostly listens to morbid angel, cannibal corpse and anaal nathrakh and that kind of stuff) i'll wait for the release date, and be blown away then. Good to see you coming back to Tuska this year, eventhough i won't propably make it this year :( but anyhoos, I bet i'll be blown away by decon and ghost. keep up the good work!

Thought it would be a great idea to cue up the last 3 tracks from "The Resistance" to play right after Decon.
Never noticed before, but seriously, where is the frickin' Bass in that orchestra mix? Lossless Vs 192K and Decon still makes shite of her.
Why are mainstream releases not aloud to rock the Bass to the full? Does it have some kind of strange power to incite the masses? And if so? Where's the Church of fucking Jaco Pastorius!?

Anyways, in other news... All due respect to the likes of Ride the Lightning, Human, Demanufacture, Focus, The Gathering, Crack the Skye etc., even City and Alien.
But Deconstruction is hands down my favourite Metal album of all time. If this truly is it for Dev in Captain Chaos mode then for me there could be no better swan song. At no point am I left thinking oh maybe some more of this, or perhaps less of that, oh if only that part went like this...
Literally all I could ask for sonically and thematically.

If Ghost manages to fall somewhere between The Hummer and Ki, I shall be one happy and balanced bunny indeed. Image

Even if z2 is on hold, it still (probably) won't be the same as Deconstruction in terms of heaviness... which is fine, really. The point I think robvondoom is trying to make is that Decon might be the last ridiculously, insanely, balls-to-the-walls all-out heavy record that Dev ever makes. We don't know for sure (he doesn't know for sure!) but it'd probably be safe to assume that there won't be more albums in the same vein coming anytime soon. I've sort of viewed it as his swan song to the world of extreme metal, to be honest, and even though I'd be thrilled if he proved me wrong (just because he's proven that he can create sonic chaos like no one else out there)... it doesn't bother me one bit that this'll probably be the last we see of him in that vein. Someone mentioned a few pages back that they wouldn't mind if all he ever released after this point was material in the vein of Ki; I have to say, I'd be totally cool with that. No matter what Dev's done so far, it's all be great, so wherever he goes in the future, I'm sure the same will apply.

...oh, and I think The Resistance is by far Muse's worst album, for a myriad of reasons. Can't compare Exogenesis to Deconstruction yet, but come June... something tells me which one I'll like (exponentially) better, haha.

Just wanted to echo this sentiment; you've been going above and beyond for everyone, lately, and we really appreciate it. I'll be pre-ordering one of the bundles for Deconstruction and Ghost come Monday for sure, and it's (been an) honor to be able to support your work.

Just adding my best wishes for ZTV!
The gear sale must have been intense, especially stuff like the Death of Music sheet. I'd keep that shit.

Any thoughts on what the vinyl will be?

I wouldn't. No offense to Ki, but I look forward to every album Dev does a being something completely new and different... I wouldn't want to see "all" of his future material sounding like any one particular album style. But I don't think that will be anything to worry about anyway, as I think Dev himself would be miserable rehashing the same sound over and over (wasn't that one of his complaints about the SYL era?).

I know the following comment is going to get rotten tomatoes thrown at me, but I feel like I have to say it because I have seen so many heap mountains of praise on Ki: it didn't do anything for me. I tried to like it, I tried so hard to like it, I really wanted to "get it", but after listening to it about 15 times and finding myself still impatiently waiting for it to be over, I just gave up on it. I can respect it for what it is and for the talent that went into it, and I'm not trying to come across as "what is wrong with you people, this album sucked" or anything like that; Dev seemed to enjoy the experience of making it, and I am happy for him in that respect. And I don't dislike it because it's not "heavy" or "SYL enough" (I'm a big fan of ambient, contemplative "space" music)... but the only reaction most of the tracks get from me is an urge to hit the skip button.

That being said, I think alot of people are expecting Ghost to be Ki 2, but the Making Of vids on YouTube and the Feather track don't give me that impression at all, so I'm looking forward to it. And I'm looking forward to whatever comes next, because as Monty Python says, "And now for something completely different..."

This is the same feeling i've been getting since i heard Ki & Addicted back to back.

It's like all of his previous albums are comprised of different combinations of the 4 elements of his musical style that each album focuses on.

For instance, in Ziltoid I can hear a lot of the elements epitomized in Ki & Decon. Ocean Machine sounds, to me, like Ki & Ghost with a touch of the Decon heavy-ness, and so on.
