Just got back from this absolutely incredible show! Only stayed for Scale the Summit and Devin, but man, I couldn't have been happier! StS was great, far better than the last time I saw them with Dream Theater. The sound was much improved and they put on an amazing performance. Devin came out on stage and treated us with a hilarious "interpretive dance routine" that had me laughing my ass off! He then proceeded blow my mind with his all-too-short set. The aspect that impressed me most was his vocal performance: wow. I mean, just wow. Spot on perfect for every single song, even adding some gut-wrenchingly awesome screams into the mix. Sound was great, and his tone had that "wall-of-sound" feel that we all know and love. Highlights for me would have to be Truth, Kingdom, and By Your Command, although the entire time was nothing short of magnificent. Thank you, Dev, for your music and stunning performances! Can't wait for a headlining tour!

Where did you meet Dev? I went out back by the buses and there wasnt ANYONE out there.

Great show though, as stated above. Dev's little dance at the beginning was classic!

I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

I caught him right when he was heading to the buses after Cynic's set. He was really exhausted and not feeling too good so he was heading in to go to sleep I guess. He was so kind tho and still happily signed a bunch of stuff for me, talked for a bit and took pictures :)

I just got lucky that I caught him at the right time.

What a nice guy. :) I hope he comes to St. Pete as a headliner. The main reason I didn't go to this show was due to the fact that he was only granted a 30 minute set (I didn't care much for the other bands).

What was the setlist?

Same as the rest of the tour:

Disruptr
Supercrush!
Kingdom
Truth
OM (first 2 minutes of song)
By Your Command

All of the above songs were significantly heavier than their respective CD versions and in between songs he was hilarious as well. He opened the concert with a 2 minute interpretive dance about how his day was going thus far and it was amazing. I got it all on video! haha

Damn, I've been debating all Tuesday if a 1 1/2 hour long drive from Orlando to see the show was worth the time and money. Thanks to what I've heard here, I wish I woulda gone :( .

Last time I saw DT was at the Lonestar in Westport, Kansas City. He was singing with some dude named Vai. Sex and Religion tour. Incredible energy. Tight. I have been listening ever since and when I heard DT was going to be in St. Pete, that was that. I am with the other posters. Can't wait for a full set! The thing I love about DT live is that he puts it all out there, and at the same time, has a great sense of humor and lightness about the whole heavy thing. It's fun. And I loved it when he "incited" the crowd to get a bit of a pit going. Thank god! Ran in to several people who were there to see DT. Jealous of you guys who had a chance meeting. I had my Sex and Religion CD cover ready for a sig........maybe next time. In the meantime, I'm "Addicted" to "Ki" and can't wait for the third of four. Thanks Devin Townsend. I really appreciate the music!
