i missed the 98 gig because it was sold out! i was pretty pissed off about that so i made sure i got tickets early for the 1999 Hifi show. i hadn't heard a single note before going in and was an instant convert! I had OM and City within days of seeing that show and played them to death.

The Melbourne gig was great, a big hi to all the people who I met at the pre-party thing, and thanks to Brian and Ryan for coming by.
My biggest problem (especially considering the heaviness of the set) was the lack of movement at the front!!!
Who stands still at the front of a metal gig??? Remember just because your a nerd doesn't mean you have to be a pussy and I saw a lot of pussies!!
It's not just that they weren't jumping around etc, it's more the fact it inhibits the people who do want to go crazy at a metal gig, and if your one of those people that get pissed off because it gets a bit heavy and pushy at the front, DON'T STAND AT THE FUCKING FRONT!!!
I remember going to gig's ( for example Devy '01 at the corner) and feeling a sense of achievement in surviving the front, sure you got hit, maybe a blood nose, but that's all part of the metal experience (especially if you stand at the front) now days instead of earning there place at the front people feel entitled to it , not only that they get pissed off at you for wanting to go off.
So if this sounds like you, then you are a pussy! Go stand on the side!!! :furious:

But a big thanks to the Dev, and I can't wait for your return

That's right. that's why I stand up the front not moving, because I want to annoy the ageing bogans who need to feel like they got into a fight at a gig for it to be worthwhile.
I don't stand near the front because I want to see the band playing or anything

Plenty of places to see mate, without ruining the front.
And there is a HUGE difference between moving to the music you love and having a fight! In fact I also hate the overlly aggressive people who do want to fight at gigs, it's about loosing yourself to the music and moving with it, I also find that the non-movers at the front cause more problems because they get pissed off when they cop a little knock which then results in problems, when everyone is jumping and moving you cop a bit you give a bit, it's all metal.
But you get people standing still, getting pissed off because the people around them are jumping and getting into, that's when real problems start.
The closest to a fight I saw at the gig was when 3 little girls with there eve3n smaller friend got pissed off because they where getting pushed and hit a bit by a guy loosing himself in the moment.
I expect this sort of crap at festivals full of people who don't normally go to gigs, but not at a real show.

So I reiterate, stop being such a pussy, or don't stand at the front!!!

P.s. the ageing bogan comment totally not called for

relax, guy.
everyone enjoys gigs in their own way.
it's not like dtp is an extreme/death/black metal band anyway.
i loved the gig BECAUSE i was able to stay up the front and a little off to the side without having to worry about getting smacked around by careless fans, enjoy the show, and take a few photos.

Where to start....I thought DTP was fucking AMAZING. By far one of the bestest gigs i've been to. My husband and I even took my father in law who was boppin' away. I loved the fact that it was loud. We were standing right in front of the sound desk and it sounded pretty good from where we were.
Thank you Mr Devin, was a completely amazing experience that I'll never forget and hope will be repeated when you come back

I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate and fucking hate those guys who are regardlessly pushing and hitting other people just because they are so fat and ugly that they have nothing to loose. They are claiming the best places for them, and i´ve seen too many concerts where two fat and/or strong morons ruined everything for 30 other people, because they claimed all the space for themselves. I don´t want to stand still, i like to dance and bang and maybe jump, just loose myself (without loosing respect for others). But i can't, because i get pushed or punched all the time. I'm not very strong, so - of course - i should go to the back where i can't see anything. All because of a few people need all the space for "loosing themselves". Great! Well, maybe we are on the same side, because you said that you don't like those overly aggressive people, too.
