That is an 'oh snap' indeed. Kudos fool, where and when did you see them? And when did Mikael Akerfeldt get a tattoo on his forearm? :o It looks kind of fresh to me ???

Perhaps I've said this already - but on heavily tattooed people, in older pictures, their arms are all naked  in the newer ones, there's all this stuff on 'em *coughMENDEZcough*

He's had that tattoo forever, yo. I told you several times, Cattycat, I saw them in London and Bristol in November, and Bergen and Stavanger in March. Need to see them live again until they've played more of my favourite songs. Bleak and The Drapery Falls just once! AND NO HARVEST! WHAT! WHAT! I want to see The Moor and Baying of the Hounds and Master's Apprentices too. And The Leper Affinity.

Are you serious? Haha I've never noticed it before - I thought his pasty chicken arms were ink-free. Awww I love his chicken arms

Oh damn, you're right... my memory must be going. I do remember discussing it with you before, I envy you :P They put on good shows, don't they? I still think about the show.
Bleak once? No Harvest? No Leper Affinity?! I thought those were crowd favorites that they always played?! I've never seen Hex Omega, and that's one of my favorites off the album, have you ever seen it live?

Anyone know what the tattoo says? I can't get a good view of it.

Am I in the Addicted thread talking about Opeth? For shame, Catlin. For shame

I believe it says Sorskogen and maybe his birth date aswell, not too sure about the date thing.

I think Sorskogen is some place in Sweeden, lol, very helpful aren't I.

lets get this thread back on topic. Any news about the album? Will the album be vocal melody driven or guitar melody? What about solos? Or lead guitar interludes (ala Life)?

Devin mentioned before that Ziltoid may make an appearance on a Devy record in the future. If Hyperdrive has been re-recorded will Ziltoid have something to say about it?

I believe Dev said somewhere that Ziltoid was co-writing Deconstruction.

Funny how this thread goes haywire if Dev doesn't give us something to talk about lol. Hopefully he will be back soon....with Addicted videos or something (hands clasped in prayer).

Just think, it won't be too long before Addicted is wrapped up...and then we can hear all about Deconstruction....I am so excited for that. And it will also mean that much less time to wait for Addicted. Ugh....I feel so spoiled cuz I just got an awesome Devy album that could last me for a few years, but the fact that I know there is more coming is making me anxious :help:

It would be awesome if Ziltoid make an appereace on Decon, i think that Decon will be the last pure chaotic album from Dev, i'm sure that will be heavy influences in his further creations, but i think that he's gonna stay in that "calm" songs, more melodic with more clean vocals. To me could be perfect..i'm in ...things changed!

well even if Deconstruction is the last real chaotic album by Devy that wouldn't be a problem with me. Devin has a very distinctive style when it comes to chaotic parts. The Ki title track is a great example, the ending of the track is an atmosphere that ONLY Devin could create. But after hearing the entire Ki album I am very interested in hearing where else Devin's mind and fingers (on the fretboard) have been exploring.

Addicted is being more anxiously awaited by me than Ki because I really like where DTB was heading and (especially on Synchestra) a lot of good material had been recorded.

It wouldn't be a problem to me neither, I'm sarting to like more the clean vocals of Dev than his growls

because it was SYL and the self-titled album that got me into Devy it is the screams and growls that i enjoyed more. But when i took the time to listen to Devin's work outside SYL i found myself enjoying his clean singing more and more. Both styles have a real personal tone and show a lot of emotion.

If you read that and think, "well all singing is personal and emotional" listen to Amorphis' Far From the Sun and everything after with the new singer. The three newest albums have real emotion in the singing. Then listen to Devin sing. Right away you'll understand what I mean. I receive the same "feel" from both singers.

I am not sure what it is. Maybe some vocalists feel the music better? Maybe they have found how to truly express their feelings through their singing?

^Definitely so. In fact, I've found out that every one of my top favourite singers are the kind that can deliver heavy emotional impact with their singing. Technically correct singing alone does nothing to me.

I personally think that singers evolve with time 'till they find their real strength

Sweet Abydost. 8) You should stow away in a suitcase and sneak into Download, and make that 5 times :D

WHAT? The appearance of Ziltoid once again would be so very welcome, I doubt that he could be bothered though, what with being so busy being THAT omniscient

Maybe some far out modal stuff? He's no stranger to such things - maybe some crazy tunings? To which he is also no stranger to :) His fingers have a way of coming up with some really interesting stuff, things that you'd be hard pressed to find in most music :) I can't wait to hear it either!

I believe that may have been a joke on his part.
