Relax... : )

Devin's songs click, if they click, and if they don't, they will click later. You just have to be in the right mood to understand the music.

I thought first, that BILB chorus doesn't do anything for me. Then i saw this video:

I have smiled the whole day after that and the chorus rocks. ; )

So I guess this means I can expect the album a few days early since I just got that email as well.

I forgot who said it, but he/she was right. BILB really does have that similar charm that Sunshine and Happiness has. They both put little smiles on my face :)

Haha wow... Thanks for sharing that video! My entire opinion of the song has pretty much changed after seeing that for some reason.

Thinking that Boston and Clifton Park will be solo runs for me. Then I'll meet up with my old SYL tour running buddy and we'll hit at least NYC if not Philly.
Anyone want to pass me digital camcorder to document the trip? haha

I'm considering soloing the Clifton Park tour myself.

Good god that must be painful for you - What was the last DT produced song to blow you away, just so I can gauge how much my musical sensibilities have slipped over the years?

A Simple Lullaby.

No need to be an ass though, by the way. I bought Biomech in 1997 and have been a die-hard fan ever since, but I'm beyond blind fanboyism. My admiration for most of Devin's albums won't stop me from talking about whether I like certain (new) songs. I'm sorry, I don't get how you can't simply accept someone saying "song x didn't blow me away". It's an opinion just like "omg BILB owns!".

+1

Agree

I agree too, i can't believe that someone can't accept the fact that we have the right to not be 100% agree of what Devin does, it happened the same thing when biert (i think) said "i don't like addicted cover" and everybody ranted it's just an opinion, being against it won't give you the Dev's love

There it goes again! It's nothing to do with rights it's to do with that half page of a thread on a Devin Townsend forum where you said nothing.

You could have said "song x didn't blow me away" and then asked what it was that was connecting others to these new songs and is it the same thing or a new thing that is bringing this appreciation.

...and in case you're wondering "omg BILB owns!" is just as unfulfilling as "song x didn't blow me away" from a readers perspective.

So I ask again...

What was the last DT produced song to blow you away, just so I can gauge how much my musical sensibilities have slipped over the years?

should I deduce from "I bought Biomech in 1997 and have been a die-hard fan ever since" that you accidentally bought ocean machine in 97 and reserve 'right' to be a 'die hard' fan ever since, regardless of the fact that actually DT records have never really done it for you?

OR

should I deduce that everything up until Ki a few months back was hunky dory and now the teasers from Addicted are somehow missing an ingredient?

Please, I just want to know.

and yes there is sarcasm in there, mostly because I can't believe how little effort you're putting into letting others understand your 'owns' and 'blows'

would you be happier if we all cut to the chase and had a poll vote?

personally I'd rather read your opinion than a running tally - I even prefer reading petty rants like this one more than a running tally (apologies to those who don't like petty rants)

Surely we all know that DT isn't mainstream taste (but god knows why)? I want to know why the first 3 big tastes of 'Addicted' really aren't doing it for YOU, where as the rest of his catalogue you're a die hard fan of.

yer posse can each have a minus 1 for universe balance.

I know Universe in a ball doesn't seem to be getting a lotta love here. But it's my fav of the three.

Do you have a lot of time? :why:

Nothing is wrong with it, if all one wants from a discussion is thumbs up or thumbs down. Surely it's not that demanding? This isn't a tread about this weeks top 10 on the hit parade :?

On a Devin Townsend forum I find it very interesting that a die hard fan of all previous works can be that unimpressed by the first three full teasers from a new album.

I really want to know why that is and it's annoying that this being a discussion forum, I can't get some reasoning for that statement. Again, it's not like this is a general music forum where that kind of remark would be understandable.

And yes, while I wait for a leak or my copy to arrive in the post (whichever comes first), I do 'have a lot of time' for these threads.

What's wrong with wanting more information as to why a DT fan doesn't like the first three teasers - maybe the guy's opinion will change when he hears all the songs in their intended context.

Do you think that would be interesting know? I do.

Instinctively I think it was the usual 'a cry for help insecurity' and the 'I was into x band when they were still y' thing.

...would love to eat my hat.

I agree

see, that's where I think the other two may need the context of the album before the get the 'in place' feel that UIAB seems to have standing alone.

When I listen to all three on continual loop I feel most content with UIAB and the other two while brilliant keep reminding me about the poor mp3 quality and how flipping long it'll be until I get to understand them more.

Maybe he just simply doesn't like the songs? There doesn't have to be a big profound reason.
