I was joking!!!! :P There used to be a time when we couldn't rely on leaks, we had to wait until the cassette came out. Either labels have taken action towards anti-leakage (a band I know called Alestorm dished out individually watermarked promos so if one leaked, they could trace the leaker), or maybe reviewers are getting more integrity for the sake of the bands.

I'm not cool enough to be in the band :p I do their webby stuff (not exactly tour manager, but I get to weasel my way into festivals they play for free!)

Here's a vid of them- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUqHHm0T8XU (basically what they sound like, new album's heavier though)

There's obviously a lot of tension in the air, cause people are taking each other's words so seriously. It's one of the flaws of internet. It's easy to get the wrong idea and get all worked up by that.

Ok, no problem. You never know around here, when some people really do seem to have the opinion you were ridiculing.

Alestorm are cool, they put on a good show when I saw them in February :)

I know a couple of bands round here who are *fairly* well known, the moment their stuff leaks makes me wince cause people like me have kept it so very underwraps, and someone goes and spoils it before release. I think the worst was when one had an album due to for release in September '06, and it got leaked in MARCH, cause the guy promoting them decided to sell his promo on eBay. By the time they played Download, everyone had already got the album! iTunes didn't help on the matter by "accidently" releasing it in June. Yeah getting music for free is all well and awesome, but these people have to eat! Back to when I mentioned reviewers being selfish, a lot of the time, one will (with the idea of being generous) sent it to their friends, who will send it to their friends, and for convenience sake, they will shove it on torrent for everyone else. I get emails from people asking where they can download certain songs by Breed77, I show them links to sites that sell the CDs and get "Can't you just send me the track?" in response. Buy the frigging CD you stingey cow!

I don't mind waiting for the album to plop on my doormat, if Dev wanted it to be released the moment it hits Piratebay, he would have put it up there himself weeks ago.

And Alestorm are the epitome of silly :D They did a stunning cover of Lazytown's "You Are a Pirate".

That's very clever! The watermarks were pretty funny too.

Are you sure? I can't find it anywhere, and the chance I've missed it is very small anyway! I love them, Black Sails at Midnight even beat Ki in my 2009 charts. No joke.

I think Dev was just trolling about CM sending out unwatermarked promos. It would have leaked by now if that was true.

He did it to increase pre-order sales! CONSPIRACY! :P

Quite possibly. No record label is stupid enough to send out 1,000 unwatermarked promos when there are weeks until the album gets officially released.
That would be just incredibly bad business. Just think about how many goddamn promos would be out there. It would've leaked the first day.

Nah, doubt that very much Trilog!

I'm quite glad that Addicted hasn't leaked. The majority of Devins albums have leaked by now. If this increases album sales then it's great.

I can't wait to hear Addicted but I also know that 1 month isn't going to kill me...well, hopefully not :D

I was disappointed that they didn't do Fireman Sam, but still...Chris' superior side project SPLEN are playing in my back garden next summer :D You can download both their albums at http://www.splen.co.uk . Just replace "pirates" with "Richard Branson" and "Coupar Angus" and you have Splen!

I was at that show. Each show I've been to for those guys are just plain fun.

I'm also going to wait for Addicted, take the CD to the studio I work at, get there earlier than usual before anyone arrives to interrupt me and just play it loudly.

Whenever I read your posts, I think of it in an intelligent person's voice because of your avatar. Just sayin'.

Yeah. Reviewing is a fairly warped scene in my experience. Used to do some but quit due to the business side of things. I was there to cover music. However, it became this competition to kiss the most ass to get the best freebies. More pro-level friends had to go run for half an hour and find a reason to positively review a label's current IT band to keep guest listing privileges. Those that didn't do that were forced to stop covering some fairly high profile releases because thye got taken off *every* list. The final straw for me was being part of this crack team assembled for the express purpose of giving fair and balanced coverage to all genres and having my editor write these blazingly ignorant missives to up the speed and keep himself in prime position to score cool freebies.

Given the music reviewing is a moral cesspool fraught with peeps in it for the bragging rights, I'd advise any of the independent bands I help out concerned with leaks to consider posting a track here and there while keeping in touch with their fanbase. If you cultivate a loyal following, they'll often be good to police shit for you and introduce the "HE NEEDS TO FEED HIS INFANT CHILD YOU GOD DAMNED FUCKWIT" factor without you really looking bad.

8) From a few metres away it looks like glass! Pretty impressive for a country that doesn't even do halloween properly :P

Picture me now, listening to Addicted, drinking Dr Pepper from one of these babies.

My life is almost complete.
