So is that the exact same mic Dev uses on vocals? Looks like it's really versatile and excellent for vocals.

Who really cares that much? He's using an expensive shure mic - where is that new in professional recordings? He told us what he's using, now we know. We could sit here and goof over his endless amount of pro equipment all day, but I'm far more interested in the songs, the little teasers of anneke you hear on the youtube and some of the vocal technique he's using.

Well, I haven't heard a single clip from Addicted that didn't sound good and I'm pe-reetty sure that means that the album itself can hardly disappoint.

Wow, I absolutely love the ascending vibratos you do Dev. This new song sounds pretty fucking epic if you ask me, hella digging the chuggy-ness and the ascending phrases Dev is using. Ki is by far my favorite DT project, it even beat Accelerated Evolution which I thought was impossible. :guitar:

well, I did care because what he's been showing in the vid would have been completely impossible with any mic I have, but allows for such a great flow and focus on the music. Just imagine what the process would have looked like with a Neumann U87 or any other of those highly acclaimed Studio microphones (btw, at 10 times the price of the SM7). Push a button, run to vocal booth,
put on headphones, sing, what the fuck is 'larn', take off headphones, run back... pointless without an engineer.

All I get from monitors bleeding into the mic is a wall of shit.

I`ve heard that the sm7`s have no bleed at all..or close to none

This the one? http://www.shure.com/ProAudio/Products/WiredMicrophones/us_pro_SM7B_content

Sounds interesting, especially the internal shock mount and pop filter. Never thought about a dynamic mic in the first place (the diameter made it look like a tube/condenser to me), but now it's beginning to make sense. At least in cases where you don't need to get every tiny detail on the track - fuck subtlety...

sm7's a broadcast mic.... meant for multi person radio booths originally, i was wondering about the bleed myself, i'm glad i'm not the only nerd.....btw dev, my local record store can't keep KI in stock....always sold out....good sign methinks

I care, all of us here also creating music ourselves and looking up to people such as Devin of course wants to learn and develop our own stuff. We are all "gear-nerds".

Also, the SM7 is one of my favorite vocal mics for recording screaming vocals. We used SM7s on our ep (shamless self whoring www.myspace.com/bleedbeforetheskies) and some $5000 Neumann for clean vocals. Excellent mic. The Neumann had way more bleed from the headphones.

It's good to know what your favourite musician uses so when you come to recording yourself you have an idea what to use and what not to use.

Hey Devin I was curious to see if there were any photos of Duris' kit from the studio for Ki or any of RVP's kit for Addicted like there was for for Synchestra. I myself am a drummer and I was interested in on how the mics were placed for the recordings. I want to be a Producer so badly, and I've been trying to learn all can from your footage from the studio. It'd be a dream if I was able to sit down with you and learn everything you know on Recording and Producing! If you have any photos or footage of the recording for the drums, could you please post those up? Thank You So Much. -Nash-

Hey Devin the song "Nibz" is fantastic like the other addicted samples song. The Addicted album tracklisting is the same as the other time (14songs? name of the song are the same? the length of the album (nearly 50min?) or change? I can't wait. Have a nice day. :alien:
