Sweeet. I love layered records so much!

I feel like Addicted may become the strongest competitor against Ki for my album of the year award.

(I think the only other chance is that Wintersun actually get Time out this year, but I'm sceptical about that...)

I just woke up from a dream with Mr. Dev in it. I ran into him in front of a piercing shop (I was in there arguing about the prices of tongue rings) and when I left there he was. I was trying to remember who he was and I called him Poopynugeteer. Hahaha anyway I had just put a gumball in my mouth and was trying to talk but it wasn't working so he watched me pull this huge wad of gum out of my mouth.

I asked him 1 question.

"Mr. Poopy, do you feel that you'll put violins in a track or two?"

He Responds....
"Violins are Boring"

Then he walked away

Do you think Violins are boring Dev?

Ohhh... on the newest album! I just happen to have that one laying around here. Which song? I am not completely familiar with the album. Found it at some cheap local CD shop a few months ago and haven't bothered to listen yet.

Late reply for this but: She's on quite a few songs as she's portraying a character for the story. The first vocal part by Anneke that comes to my mind is on the first song (Age of Shadows), starting at 6 minutes. Very, very, very good vocal part...

The album is kinda hit/miss (not as strong as for example The Human Equation or Electric Castle), but some tracks are definitely worth a listen.

Hearing about this as yet untitled 4th album gets me wondering, of the little snippets of info that Dev has given us regarding how it "MIGHT" sound, which song out of his body of work do you think best represents how it might turn out?

A mix of Cosmic Surf, The Death of Music and uh... Funeral? Something like that. Or maybe just Quiet Riot with ambient elements thrown into it. I have no idea what I'm talking about here.

I remember Devin saying somewhere that the 4th one would be really something he hasn't done before, but I'd imagine it would have some elements Abydost mentioned...

Ki.

We all know Devin is ridiculously talented...but my guess for how the 4th one will sound given his descriptions thus far is that it will be an hypnotic trip down Devy-lane. He has described Ki, the album, as the intoduction to this 4 album musical journey and a cross-section of the music of the remaining 3 albums. The song, Ki, feels, to me like a dream...drifting off from the subtle sitar-like sounds at the very beginning to the simple and beautiful mid section and into the crescendo of hypnotic vocals that wind the listener up and up to an ending that feels like the hypnotist has just snapped his fingers and you are then awake.

OK, enough procrastinating...I had better actually get some work done!

^Exactly,

(Off Topic...Kalisia's album Cybion is phenomenal, check it out, IMO it's about tied with Ki...Maybe better...I honestly need more time to decide)

Cool, I've heard about it being a good one, I'll check it out.

The Dev wrote:Yeah, stress...this is a crucial time for old dev here...lots of things are potentially good in my 'career' right now, but it takes a ton of housecleaning and spending, and I'm so busy recording that theres no time...

a strong wind can blow it either way, though it's become about 52% positive now, so hope springs eternal...

Addicted is another wrestling match...I'm 2% into the advantage now though, and have big feet to stick in the door...

I get feelings from each of these records...with Ki I remember feeling like it was 'going to suprise me', Addicted...I felt 'People are going to really like this'... Deconstruction I get the feeling like 'This will be my crowning achievement' and the last one, honestly I get the thought that it 'isn't the same as the others, and you'll know it when you get there...don't think too much about it'

website is almost ready with the new vid, and the live q&a etc...things move slowly lately.

Addicted is a wall of sound, better sounding than my old wall, and the songs are kick ass...3 songs came in dreams, Timmy, Ih-Ah, and Anneke singing Hyperdrive.

It's a party record I guess...good for exercising, but theres something about it that I find VERY moving, very moving...

Deconstruction I could spend a year recording...we'll see. I won't rush them just to meet deadlines...I'd be doing it to prove a point, not to make the best albums I can.

d

These middle two records are the ones I've been most looking forward to, and they both sound fucking sick! It's very good not to rush them--been doing that lately with the stuff I'm writing, and I'm finding that generally, things turn out a lot more complete (for lack of a better word). Everything sticks together and brings out its emotion/effect more so than if I try and meet a deadline.

Anyway, I'm presently very psyched for Addicted, and preemptively thrilled about the next few albums and extras and whatnot. It sucks that you're stressed, but I think it kind of comes with the territory. Best regards through it all, man.

Please don't rush anything Devin. Take the time you need with the albums. It will be worth the wait.

Or it could be a Candadian take on this.

We understand, Dev... don't be a machine. You've just released Ki. It's a brilliant and different album, man.

Stress is good for motivation, but when you're tired just chill and don't destroy yourself like it was before Ziltoid album times.

We'll wait as long it will take. We all know that "Addicted" is going to be a heavy melodic bomb in our face. so I'll agree with others... no rush.
