Music-lovers are like snowflakes, there's not two of the same.

Don't ever, ever trust the number reviewer gives. It is only his opinion on how much he liked the album. Read the text and ignore the number.

Wander wrote:0-100 system is abit ridiculous. The only way to give a specific score is to try and compare the album to dozens of others like "I think it's better than that one, but just slightly worse than that one... I gave it 90, so this one is 89!"

I've always hate numbering in reviews, too. Especially with Blabbermouth. Reviews should be, IMHO:
Personal impressions of the album AFTER a few dedicated listens
"Liked/Did Not Like",
If "Liked":"Would Recommend to Friends/Would Recommend To Strangers"
and finally:
"Short Term listening", "Long Term Listening", "Potential to be a Favorite"

Eyesore actually reviews albums. I wonder what his take is.

Thank you again to all who recommended Animals as Leaders. What a freak Tosin is.....

I finally found Rite of Spring 50 miles east of my town haha. It came with The Firebird, Apollo, and Petrushka as well. Good shit....
I swear, if I can remember back to how that music sounded on the Deconstruction Youtube vid.....it was reminiscient of Rite of Spring in its craziness......

Maybe these critics previously worked in some gaming magazine. Gamers apparently love numbers, "graphics of Swords of Arsegard 3 is 87,5% and playability 74,2%". I'd rather rely on reviewer's ability to describe stuff, some of them can write about music in really beautiful way.

Bought Rite of Spring + Firebird yesterday, too. Very good, indeed. And an organ & orchestra symphony (nr 1) by Felix Alexandre Guilmant, impressive stuff.

So I just preordered my copy of Ki on the Ebay page. Does anybody know if I can expect it to ship May 25th or will I have to wait until after June 19th since I live in the United States?

June 19 is the InsideOut (American distributor) release date, but you're ordering direct from HevyDevy Records so it'll be May 25.

Sorry, but I have to do this...

This is the 1000st reply on this thread!!! :drink:

Ki grows on me... I love the album more and more as the days come and go...
Devin Townsend is surely the greatest musician on earth!
I'd love to have my copy of Ki at the end of may. I will be waiting for the postman at the front door! :D

My buddy dl-ed Rite of Spring, but it is a newer version with a different orchestra playing it. I used to think classical music was just all the same.....but now I notice that different conductors/orch. interpret the pieces in different ways. The newer version doesn't sound near as angry....and I notice the same thing with some pieces by Bartok, and Vivaldi's Four seasons. Well, I know this has nothing to do with Ki, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. I always loved classical, but I am just now REALLY getting into it, so forgive me. :D

What guitars were used on Ki? I'm guessing the Peavey one, and the white hollowbody from the photos? Really wonder what pickups Devin has in the Peavey as well, they don't look like the EMG 81s really... So many different guitar sounds on the album.

Somewhere around the 25th I'd imagine.

I just received Devlab and The Hummer within 10 days of ordering them and I'm on the opposite side of the world so I reckon everyone that's got an order in will have it by the first week in June at the latest.

On another note, thanks Dev for the "Animals as leaders" recommendation. They're amazing.
Looking forward to having a real copy of Ki in my possession.
