Duris is actually one Facebook and I wrote on his wall complimenting him, etc. etc.

He had this to say:

"Thank you for the kind words Billy...and Ki was the most fun I've had in the studio in many years.

Thunder Paws"

I hope The Dev really "uses" his immense vocal talent on KI. thinking of songs like "Deadhead" and especially the ending on "Storm"
I love the dynamicfeel of his voice here, how he slowly builds momentum, then unleashes himself completely. I mean, if you can listen to Storm and not get chills.... you must be dead inside. :dead:

I totally agree. Those are two of my favorite Dev moments in terms of sheer emotion. His voice is my favorite part of his music.

I feel ya.

I relate more to the emotion of Strapping, I aspire to the emotion of his solo work.

Either way, it's purity cannot be questioned. You know he didn't just write a "sad" song, or a "happy" song. The guy plays from his heart and his mind. It's his outlet for whatever is floating about his mind at a given time. And thankfully for us, dare I say almost miraculously he's been allowed to a certain extent in the past and is now in a position to just let fly with his best without anyone trying to get in the way. There are so many bands out there that none of us would give a 2nd glance simply because their label or management won't allow them to deviate from a tried and trusted standard.

Fucking labels! Doom on all of them!

Curious about "Ki" on google I found this : http://www.9starki.com/9ki_info.htm

I'm a 7 Red Metal

Nine star KI or Kyu Sei Ki (Japanese) - It's meant to be 'elements of time' as Feng Shui is 'elements of space'.

His voice in Ocean Machine makes me feel so small and vulnerable... he really knows how to move people...

I think Accelerated Evolution in particular has some ridiculously emotive vocal stuff... The two moments you just mentioned in particular.

In addition to the moments mentioned, I'd have to say I love the glorious, operatic soaring of his voice in "Triumph." It's one of my favorite Devin songs, and definitely my favorite on Synchestra, mainly for that reason.

I think for me the most emotive songs are Kingdom,Dynamics and Planet rain. I love those songs, they bring you back down to earth

Woah first post. Anyway I'd have to say one of my favorite vocal moments with Dev would be on Judgement off of Synchestra. "Don't you ever try to sever, or you'll never try again..." That line always gets me. Such a powerful voice.

Yep, Dynamics is mindboggling. Just when you think it can't go any further over the top, it reaches an all NEW level of vocal and musical intensity! Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention every time!
