Definitely. I never imagined Devin working with a jazz guy.

I was wondering what took him so long! I always thought Dev would sound fifteen kinds of awesome with a jazz dummer backing him. To me, Devin seems to have a bit of a jazz sensibility anyway - look at almost any jazz guitarist, they're usually very prolific and most seem to release an album every year or so. We've been lucky enough to get an album a year from Dev over the last decade or so - sometimes two.

Duris has inspired me so much today I've attempted a very quick sketch at lunchtime. It's up on my facebook page:

Yeh that bit sounds like such a blast of triumphant energy.

that, my good sirs, i reckon is Ki.

Ki, i can already tell, is in its heavenly-blasty-complexity my favourite song, ever.

i gotta say that after almost two decades of writing music, devin sounds like he's reaching his peak. SYL and DTB was just the beginning

i'm extremely curious about the fourth album in the series that's been kept under wraps considerably more than addicted and deconstruction. i'm a huge devlab/hummer buff so to find out there'll be a third album of ambience, it really has tweaked my noodle. especially with the supposed hint of a theme based around sand? i know it's dreadfully early to be speculating it, but the suspense on that... it's crazy...

I don't want to be arsey about it. There are triggers on the drums. I think they were visible in one of the vids that was on youtube. Though i imagine they were for noise gating rather than setting off samples. There is just so much misconception about what triggers are online. I think what you mean to say is, you like the fact the drums sound so natural or that their aren't any samples involved (which there might be, just more subtlety than on most metal albums)

Anyway sorry if that comes across as dickish it wasn't my intention.

Hey guys,

why can't I access any of the making of videos on youtube? Every time I click one it says "this video is private."

What gives?

Thanks.

Just heard the teaser. Definitely want to hear the rest, there's so much versatility in this album it seems.. like every music genre is covered, wow. And if Dev manages to blend them all together seemlessly (which I have no doubt he can) this will be a monster of an album. The big orchestral bit near the end already gives me goosebumps, even though it's just 5 seconds... *waits impatiently*

Hey guys, my first time posting on the forum too ...

I'm a newbie as a dev fan, I only discovered him with Ayreon (though my sister had tried to take me in SYL years ago, guess I was too young ... or just waiting for the stuff he's currently doing :p) but I'm already addicted ...

Hope the box will be available in europe with no problem, 'cause I soon as I read the interview on myspace, I KNEW that was going to be a huge masterpiece, and the trailer just made me ... :dead:

Dev is a genius, one of the greatest of this era (alongside with Arjen Lucassen, in my very humble opinion)

I mean ... Oh My God, that's gonna be, that is, that will be something so awesome I won't be able to speak for months, for years until I recover from the shock and the tears dr.

I really liked ZTO, even if it missed something, but those albums won't miss anything, I know it from the bottom of my heart :p

Long Live Dev !

Man, I keep listening to that part that comes in at 3:50, over and over. Really catchy.
