Look up top, there is another way of getting this, although I'm not sure how fair it is... I mean your kinda hacking a website, but fuck myspace anyway... Other than the free promotion it is rather crappy and difficult... Proper respect to Devin, he tells me not to use File2HD then I wont, but its a teaser anyway, not like hes putting the whole album there right?

Yeah, that bit was pretty cool, and it sounded just like Elvis too.

I can tell from these little previews that the album is going to be way different than anything else he's done. Liking those clean guitar tones a lot.

Synthetic_Urination wrote:i agree with you, I was thinking Ki was going to be very ambient, hard to tell from the jam videos he was putting up. I was wondering how he was going to put vocals in, reminds me a bit of Terria at times, but I guess its not the album that I'm reminded of, simply the musician.

I was going to say that actually... from what little I've heard so far it doesn't sound like any of Dev's albums but it definitely sounds like Dev. Which -is- kind of what I expected.

Hopefully some of those jam videos like "So Be It" will be included on the mega-awesome 8 CD box set he's talking about. And more Duris!

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting anything on the Hevy Devy MB, im a HUGE Dev fan (obviously), and I have a couple of questions regarding the 4 DTP releases.. im hoping someone on the board and/or Dev himself would answer them for me real quick..

1. Is there a release date for Ki yet or even an inkling as to around when it is to be released?
2. Are all 4 albums coming out at once or seperatly? (im assuming serperatly) And IF seperatly, how far apart will they be released? Will they all be out by the end of the year?
3. Is the box set coming out this year also?
4. Are the 4 albums and box set going to be in stores or only on the website?

Well thats all...hopefully someone can clear this up for me..maybe even Dev himself *ahem* :)
Dev if you do read this by the way, I just wanted to let you know how big of an inspiration you are to me as a guitar player and musician as WELL as just a human being.. that probably sounds weird but let me explain.....About a month ago I stopped smoking pot and drinking (smoking had literally consumed my life...I smoked every chance i got every day for about 8 years) and I too have come to a point in my life where I feel for the first time I want to be 100% clean and sober. The drugs were making me unhappy and began feeling more like a crutch than a fun activity. I was also tired of feeling unhealthy and like I was just sort of floating day to day through life getting nothing accomplished. Today I read the interview questions on the myspace for the DTP. You said "I quit many bad habits in my life after SYL ended. I felt depressed, angry and unhealthy and was not satisfied with living the rest of my life that way. I quit all drugs, alcohol and a host of other 'addictions' that were controlling me and my world." I feel the exact same way right now and I just wanted to let you know how inspiring reading that was.. it kinda reminded me that im not alone with this and I can stick with it. Listening to "Ki" and the other 3 albums will be just that much more special to me now because of that. Anyway thanks so much for the amazing music and keep it up Dev!

Miek wrote:Wow. Just like all of the other works, this one sounds almost nothing like the rest. So many new styles, so many new techniques.

Again, I am surprised. Wonderful! Looking forward to it!

Yeah, this is what I was most pleased about. From the stuff on Youtube, I was afraid it might sound just a little too reminiscent of Ziltoid. But clearly this album will have it's own complete and individual feel just like all the rest. Pwnage! :guitar:

Don't know why I'm torturing myself reading all of these comments...I have already decided to wait and listen to this album as a whole without sampling any clips...the ki webisode and the bass tracking vid both blew me away...I knew then, and I knew even before I saw the vids that this album is going to be a masterpiece. I just can't forfeit the experience of hearing that new riff or that new hook for the first time during one continuous play of an album...gotta hear everything in context and appreciate its careful placement....I've waited this long, what's a few more months? The reward will be greater..........yeah, I'm full of shit...I'll probably give in in a day or two...

I'll spare you looking through the forum. :troubles:

1. Is there a release date for Ki yet or even an inkling as to around when it is to be released?

"May"

2. Are all 4 albums coming out at once or seperatly? (im assuming serperatly) And IF seperatly, how far apart will they be released? Will they all be out by the end of the year?

Separate. All by the end of the year.

3. Is the box set coming out this year also?

Crap, I can't remember. <-----pussy eating smiley, Dev's favorite, just FYI.

4. Are the 4 albums and box set going to be in stores or only on the website?

They'll be front and center at Wal-mart. Just joking.

Get 'em off the website.

Definitely. If that teaser is any indication to what the rest of the material will sound like - I think Devin made a really wise choice in requesting him. I bet it'll turn out really well; I never inagined Devin working with a jazz guy. I guess that's versatility for you.
