Thanks for the Show, Dev

Sigh. I'm probably going to come off as a slightly creepy stalker type fan here but... I've been watching some of your YouTube type videos you made with D'addario, reading some of your old posts here, and generally formulating this picture in my head of the kind of dude you are, aside from the music output. I've been listening to your stuff for a few years now, and there are certain times when songs come on when I still have to stop what I'm doing and just listen to the chord progression or the line of arpeggios or whatever it is, cause some of them are just too freaking satisfying. Much more into the 'solo' work (DTB, DTP) than SYL, which puts me in the really weird position of being less mainstream than a heavy metal fan... how odd. Anyway, means I get to see the solo stuff live though!
I actually met you on Saturday at the Allan's Music signing in Sydney, I was the guy from Arizona who compared haircuts with you
I wanted to say some of this there, but, yeah, I get the whole gibbering fan hyperbole thing, really I do.
So here's my attempt at short and simple: Congrats on a seriously kick ass show in Sydney last night. I love to see someone who so clearly loves performing doing what they want to do, and pulling it off so well. You looked happy up there, and I felt pretty goddamn happy in the audience. Really top-notch performance. Second thing: Congrats on figuring out a little bit how to keep on making music and still living with yourself and family, taking care of that 'real stuff.' I find the whole dual-life of a celebrity thing quite fascinating, especially since we live in a world where you can be famous for doing absolutely nothing. So I'm glad you have at least made your existence somewhat more sustainable, for your own sake, and your family's. And for me, well, I'm just really pleased that your new Project music still appeals to me, as different as it is from DTB. Rock on man, and thanks again for the tour to Australia, you're welcome any time
I'm gonna go now and play some guitar myself... I can hardly listen to Deadhead without feeling the urge to play some.
