Ok, as read here : viewtopic.php?f=68&t=9242#p233138

I was lead to believe that Devin is to work on something of some sort with Mikael Akerfeldt, but Devin just said on Twitter that he knew nothing about it... so what's up with that? Is Gunner112k a liar, or is Devin only waiting for the right time to make it official? I'm confused, and quite anxious to know what's up with that...

Don't get anxious about it mate. It would be a match made in heaven, one I'm certain would result in some mindboggling progressive heavy music (if indeed that's the direction they chose) and that I would LOVE to see happen, but until you hear some sort of 'official' word from one or both parties, don't get too worked up about it.

Oh my what if Akerfeldt was the one Devin wanted to have do death growls on Deconstruction. PLEASE FUCKING GOD DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN.

I can't say I'd mind. I'm rather fond of Mikael. He's a nice guy - and Opeth's always been a band I've enjoyed.

Havin' said that, if Dev's not confirming anything then I won't be holding my breath.

Well, Devin said it would be "very surprising" so I guess if Devin talked about it or confirmed it would ruin the surprise. Pretty simple in my mind.

Akerfeldt on Deconstruction would just be perfect. Of course, I'd also like it if it was only Devin, I really like his growling style.

But Decon with someone else + something with Mikael...

Sorry guys, I'm clearing this up for everybody: I didn't hear this directly from the Dev (I wasn't paying attention when he said it), but my friend (in the picture on the right) did, and he was convinced that he was talking about Mikael Akerfeldt. I took this as fact because Akerfeldt was inches away from guesting in Addicted as a vocalist and he's always wanted such a collaboration to happen... Again I'm sorry if this only a result of my friend's misunderstanding...

Seriously? I'm a not a huge Opeth fan anymore but Mikael has one of the best growls in the business. Deep and evil but still very pronounced and clear.

That would be so awesome. Mikael is my all time fingerpicking idol. I think Mikael is thinking of a solo acoustic album, wouldn't mind any extra musicians on that note. you had to admit, he's got some wild death growls, but to me its his clean's that leave me in coma's haha. Opeth's Face Of Melinda is a good example as well as any other soothing clean track of theirs.

Mikael's growls are demonic, and to team up with Dev would be orgasmic.
The Human Equation was an incredible album imo, Mikael's voice was used very well by Arjen. Although the songs and lyrics are pretty average, Devin and Mikael made it worth listening to.
That said, I hope Mikael is the growler on Decon.
