The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

Hey everyone (and Dev if you're reading), after stumbling upon rules regarding recording/taping at the venues Dev will be performing, I see it's essentially up to the artist whether fans can do that or not.

So what is Dev's stance on recording the concerts? Is that cool or frowned upon?

*EDIT UPDATE*
So I did record two of the shows, Boston (MA) and Clifton Park (NY). If anyone is interested, you can download the MP3s or FLACs here:

I think you're going to have to depend on what the other bands want as well. If one of them doesn't want the show to be recorded, you probably won't be allowed to take a camera inside. Unless you stick it in the bottom of your bag and put a load of women's underwear on top.

I went to an In Flames concert last Friday and someone in the audience was recording the entire show on his video camera. At some point between songs, the singer of In Flames goes "What the FUCK are you up to man?" and took the guy's camera and put it in his pocket. "It's gone man! Guys, if this show is on Youtube tomorrow, it's because I put it there, not that guy" and they went on with the show :P

Actually after the first song, he took someone's camera on staged, filmed the band and the crowd for a bit and then handed it back, that was pretty cool. But I guess filming the entire show is pushing it just a bit.

Sometimes I wonder... Are the bands going to lose money if someone records their live show on a camera? In what form?

Watching youtubes of concert bootlegs is the reason why God made the internet.

Anybody that says that they don't like them is a liar.

Youtubes bring us wonderful things like Anneke singing Hyperdrive live.

They don't lose a thing unless you count imaginary currency.

Nothing really to do directly with what's being discussed on this thread.....but.....

I like filming badgers and llamas.

Imagine going to a gig (like a Dev gig for example) filming it, and then whilst filming it, a llama and badger running on stage?

Could have an amazing Dev/Llama/Badger youtube moment.

If you're going to film with your cell phone, please don't.

Exactly what I thought. That's why it seems very strange to me how so many bands have a VERY NEGATIVE stance towards so called "unofficial bootlegs". It's only free exposure for them, no?

Oh and both llamas and badgers are awesome.

But I think Giant Pandas are the best. They're so adorably retarded.

Just make sure to make me look more buff.

Awesome, good to hear!

It would actually be an audio recording using the Edirol R-09HR with some external mics, so no video to capture your buff-ness unfortunately. But audio can be just as pleasing, and that's what I'm hoping for :D

And to everyone, I'd be happy to share the results assuming I don't screw anything up.

One thing I can't stand is when you're filming a clip for memory's sake on your little digital camera, when a guard takes it from you.

Until Dev and the boys can tour the Twin Cites, I'd love to see or hear a recorded show. I'm sure the setlist alone will make it a very wanted bootleg.
