Dev Headlining Tour

So it seems to be a pretty much general consensus from most people I've seen posting that they'd like to see Dev headline the BTBAM tour. I totally understand his reason for not headlining this tour as its his 1st in, what, 4 years? Makes total sense. But it's been hinted that he'd like to do a headlining tour after all this (I'm personally hoping late 2010 :P) So I'm just curious, on this hypothetical headlining DTP tour, who'd you like to see as his support? My votes, in playing last to playing first order:

Opeth (share the headlining slot, that'd be sick)
Baroness (lucky enough to see these two together last year, but with DTP? Holy shit.)
2 post-metal/rock bands to open, maybe:
Rosetta, Isis, or maybe even Neurosis...
Red Sparrowes (or Pelican or Russian Circles... hard to decide)

anyway, there ya go. opinions?

dev you should headline in Australia and get Karnivool (for anyone who doesn't know them you should listen to it. best aussie band ever) to support.

Karnivool is great. So is Cog.

Seriously, it's so nice to have your support, but I've got to prove myself in the scene to warrant a headlining tour. BTBAM sold a good deal of albums in week 1 and have been working their ASSES off to be in the position theyre in. I'm very happy to support them. Same with Cynic. In fact, this tour is me testing the temperature of the water before jumping in. If I headlined straight off the bat over these guys, it would be totally unfair to the amount of work they have put in.

If it goes well, I'm sure I'll headline...but the industry is pretty wary of me already, so I need to prove that I've 'got the goods' in terms of sales and a good live show. I feel really confident, but anything could happen.

It's a business, and people have families to feed. (including me) so I'll do my best to prove to not only the labels, the scene, and whoever comes to the show that it's worth everybodys investment.

I hear where your coming from man, good to know your being realistic in your goals and taking it steady with your work, will all pay off in the end im sure, currently listening to Addicted to help me sleep, it rocks bigtime. Im sure you'll have a blast recording Deconstruction, being as prolific as you are im sure theres nothing more satisfying than making new blends of music, old mixed with the new.

As far as touring goes, I cant wait for any other UK tours other than Bloodstock, your fanbase over here is massive, I know so many people who love your music and you and the Lad always did well here. Mind you I can't think of a country that I haven't seen individuals posting from on this forum. Badass :D

Totally...if I could hole myself up and just do that, I'd be stoked. Creating, writing and recording is the best part... (and unfortunately, what gets alloted the least amount of time)

We have faith in you.

Right back at ya.

I believe

It's like that scene in hook where robin Williams is about to go fight Dustin Hoffman and the pirates and all the kids see him fly crow and fight and they're all like "I believe"

So go dev slay captain hook and the evil pirates and save the lost boys of neverland

Right back at you too my good sir! :D Yep agreed, NOTHING more satisfying jamming things out on the fly, coming up with an epic riff, creating melodies and harmonies and layering up a lush assault that really gets your emotions going. I've always seen the appeal of mixing both metal and melodic together but drawing from many influences, both heavy and commercial/pop sounding. So enjoyable crafting songs from scratch and working on each detailed layer at a time, making each one sound very crisp and smooth etc. As for the faith thing... hell yeah me too no lack of that in these parts...

But yeah... guitar...studio....lovely new equipment/software/toys/coffee...happy :P

I think it was a great poet who once asked, "Do you believe in life after love?"

But seriously dude, I'll be front and center and obnoxious in San Francisco. Business is business, and as long as you can cope with it, we should be able to cope too. Besides, Cynic are awesome.

oh yeah Dev, i totally get that. And hope you don't think I'm like bitching that your not headlining. It makes total sense that this first time you go out you go and support some other really good bands rather than headlining. I was just curious as for that headlining tour that I know you'll do (I mean, how could you not? If the industry says hey, your not good enough to support yourself on a tour, fuck um, we all know you are) what your support should be. Hope so much to catch you on this tour, if not I'll definitly be seeing you on whatever your future brings.
