You should write a symphony after you finish all your current projects!

That would be so awesome.

I'd love to hear something like that. I was also interested in something he mentioned in an interview a while back... something about writing a musical type thing. Judging by Ziltoid I'm sure a Devin Townsend musical would be pretty amazing.

He's said a good few times he's aiming up for a metal symphony at some point in his career. Most recently saying:

Deconstruction is the closest thing to a symphony yet, but not quite...

After the dtp? I've been taking lessons from Vai in terms of composing. Working hard. Decon. will have the first attempts.

I'm going to school for composition. I MUST know how genius' like Stravinksy and Berlioz composed such amazing pieces, so far ahead of their time.

Please keep us updated on how that whole process is going! I am sure I am not the only one who is curious.

He must be a really cool guy...how is he teaching?

What kinda theme base might it have, any thoughts in that regard?

Some composes can get pretty metaphysical when it comes to scales, creating applications and effects that are.......

Symphony is awesome idea.

I was actually thinking in terms of a more "traditional" symphony, although I have no idea if Dev would be interested in doing anything like that. I just think it'd be really interesting to see what the result would be like.

I'm definitely looking forward to Deconstruction though
