Keeping it real...

Hey all, woke and saw lots of interesting things, I'm excited that folks seem to like it!

Just want to say:

Please keep in mind this is just one of 4, it's pretty simple, and it's just a record...not the best not the worst. Folks are going to throw hyperbole around, and other folks will react negatively based on too much enthusiasm.

I'm just really happy to make music, and I'm excited to get you Deconstruction now...

I guess what I'm trying to say is, go easy, it's just music.

you can check this on the weekend:

'Full Metal Jackie set to premiere brand new music from the upcoming Devin Townsend Project this weekend (10/2-10/4)! Go to Fullmetaljackieradio.com to find a station near you airing the show!'

...I think Addicted and Bender, not sure.

Anyways, I'm gone for a few days.

Aw Dev, you "excuse" your music way too much man! If some people don't like it that's their problem, not yours!

You seem rather defensive at these times Dev, and I can understand that. Especially these days, since the internet has brought us all so close. You don't have to be that way though, and I'm sure you understand that anyway.

It seems kind of against anything a musician is looking for but, after so many years I personally like you. If this was 12 years ago, and I was into strapping young lad, and then you released the "4th album" right after, I'd be like.... uh this is stupid what happened to my metal. Now though... now, well... I've listened to your life unfold, I've listened to your problems, your fears, your anxieties and insecurities. I've listned to you shoot happiness out of your fucking butt crack, and I've laughed with you, and at you, at myself with your help. I've cried and banged my head, nodded solemnly and smiled.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.... you can meet someone and be infatuated with how they look, but eventually down the line you fall in love with how they make you feel.

Deep... ya I know. But it hurts me to see you worried about how people are going to react.

Thanks for this album Dev, there's many tears and smiles in my future thanks to you.

Aye, thanks for all the good tunes so far and the ones to come, Dev. Ya, it's just music, but it means a lot to me.

I haven't been around quite long enough for this :(. Everything pre-Ziltoid has just been more context than knowing. Although I'm already starting to get there, so maybe after DTP, maybe.

I wasn't going to quote this too but, well, how can you not? It's spot on.

Devin, just do what you do and we'll do what we do. Never let what you think we might feel alter anything you do, even for a minute. The moment any artist second-guesses themselves based on their fans is a sad thing. Hell, you've been pretty damn on the money for more albums than most other artists put out in a career and it feels like you're still warming up and finding new gears these days. That's pretty special, isn't it?

Simply put, screw what we think. If you are proud of what you've made then that's the big win right there. The rest is gravy and I'm pretty sure we'll be along for the ride.
