The Devin Townsend Street Team

I thought it would be ideal to start up an actual thread for it.
I got confused with the previous thread, and I don't think I'm the only one who's in a fuddle with it either.
I've been racking my brains out over this, and I only have a few ideas to show for it. Street teaming is only something I've ever observed from a far.
Going from whats in the "spreading the word..." thread, I jsut kinda complied and did suggestions/explainations from there.
Sorry if it feels like I've dumbed it down a lot, I tend to have to do that otherwise I manage to overload my own brain (Yeah, fail.
)
-For the thing to be mainly internet based.
This I can totally understand, It's easy to spread word like wild fire through the internet, but by the same hand, don't write off how usual beign face to face with people can be too. It's also the advantage of spreading actual sound slightly easier too.
I think the "internet" section can be split off in to a few different sections it's self though. I'm guessing most people here are signed on to different forums, so I'd suggest anyone who is... You can guess where I'm going with that.
Facebook is a powerful tool at the moment too. Perhaps in a way more-so than myspace. The disadvantage of Facebook though, would be the fact you can't get sound (as far as I know) But its like, update heaven on there, and so easy to contact a thousand people at once. I know there is already the "Ki and co" support page on there, but I think it may be a good idea to turn that into the actuall street teaming one, as it already has 300 or so members. I know probably half of those won't be active street teamers, but it's better than starting over again. (Or, at least I think so, obviously feel free with disagree/correct/etc on anthing I'm saying.)
The advantage of myspace however, is the strong musical community on there. I don't use it much myself, but I know that MTV 2 does a myspace chart, so think IF we could get enough people to get Devin into that, that would be a pretty awesome achievement. Advertising is also really easy on myspace. Quite a few times I've clicked on the "Featured profile" bit on there, and it /seems/ to be pretty open minded on who gets put on that. I mean, I've seen Kat Von D, Bam, a few metal things on there too. I have no idea how to feature profiles though, so if anyone does know, I think that would be great. (obviously, wait til the myspace in finished though.)
Twitter I realise can be a powerful tool at our disposal, espeically Dev if you would want to start up an account on there. I know you said you didn't know what it was on another thread, so I'll give a mini explaination.
It's basically a website, that allows you to type up how you feeling, in 140 characters. So it's sweet, short and to the point. You don't have to say anything personal or whatever on there, but I think if you are on there, saying silly little things like "Yes... Ki... Soon earthlings" people will do the whole domino effect on there, saying about how excited they are, and so on ( http://www.twitter.com )
I don't know much about Twitter myself, but anyone else who can explain it better wold be awesome (-cough- Biert?
)
Youtube I think is so obvious I don't need to say anything on it, apart from, link people like crazy?
Okay, I think that's all the internet covered.
As for actual street work... As I said in another thread, creative works best. If you can think of the weirdest, yet awesomest thing that could promote, then go for it. I would suggest keeping it legal however. Don't want to send any law suits to Dev now.
Any free stuff to give away works well. So, Dev, if you could provide us with PDFs, that would be most awesome. From those, we can create badges, stickers, flyers, posters, t-shirts (maybe not to give out, but to wear whle handing out said gear.)
A free CD with a few demos songs I think could work really well. I was thinking the most popular song from each album would be good. Probably from DTB rather than SYL, but that can be discussed. A band I was really into (just not into that kinda thing musically now) Gave me a free CD and that's how I and quite alot of there fan base had heard about them. CD's are relativly cheap to reproduce now Ithink soo. (I'm sure there like packs of 10 in the 99p store here.
)
If anyone here does any street performance type stuff, that would be cool too. However, rapid guess, I don't think many are?
But anyway, I /think/ that's the main bases covered.
Please do add anything, and tell me to update/make more sense of/just change everything I've written here if needs be! I'll keep this as up-to-date as I can!
