According to the guy down at Scrape, Devy said that Hummer wasn't good enoughto sale in stores. I'd like to know if there's anyone out ther that disagrees with the great and mighty Dev.

Anyone who knows a thing or two about Devin can't have problems with such a statement. Define good and everything falls into place.

I would just like to say that Dev and his wife have the business acumen to, unfortunately, know that while the music Dev produces is excellent in the artistic sense, it is not commercially viable...and make much better profits when they sell said music with that knowledge.

If only we didn't live in a world where "good" more often really means "bad".

Poor Devy...he tears himself a new but hole every time he makes an album. Part of it seems that his various faucets attract such a variety of exentric musical fans. I've already met several SYL fans that are only dimmly aware of his other leanings and wouldn't likley listen to it if it were handed to them. Like many fiercely individualistic artists he can easly abandon fans slavish to a style or genre.never mind metal.... music itself.Artisticly ,I'm sure Devy doesn't give a rats credit rating but I know he also want his fans to share the incredeble sense of satisfaction his music creates .
He kinda does seem to turn his back on certain records most notably Physisissssssst.(my pet favorite). I think in this case he just feels his typical fan won't relate to the whole" relax" thing in general or perhaps just the kind of bowel moving, lung colapsing, retina detatching type of relaxation I've been hearing reported so far
He likes this record alot but I hope I reaches all the people who really would dig it!!! I must admit, I wish more artists these days would be as conserned about producing crap as our metal god.

I agree with this.

Even though I think, that the spoken samples during "Consciousness causes collapse" have just dethroned that scream at the end of Things Beyond Things as the meanest thing ever in music. I fell into sleep, or some kind of trance while listening to the Hummer and when this sample kicked in I was really thinking I'm dying! Damn that was mean...

but somehow...that ruled :D

Hope the Hummer sells well and brings in a nice amount of cash for you, Dev :)

Well thats a misunderstanding on my part :? .I'm sorry to spread false rumor but I go to Scrape for all things Devy and that's what I was told was the reason why they had no copies. I mean they even have copies of the red and green Priest tribute albums and DevLab. I can't wait to get it. I can't be held responsable for what I do when I don't get my DEVY.Since it is so awsome(is there any doubt?) hows' about dropping of a few copys with Scrape for the 'masses'.
Devin and Tracy I hope you and your growing family have the best Christmas ever and a happy new year!!!

It's a misinterpretation of what Dev said previously. He said that he wasn't going to release it commercially because he new some of his more casual fans would be thrown off by it. Some ignorant fools might take that to mean that it's not "good enough". Really he is just avoiding controversy...

Yes, well we're right here in Devy land (Vancouver) and Scrape has always supported Devin's work. I will dutifully order by net , cause I love Devymetal but truthfully it's abit of a pain considering he lives 2 towns over.
