Just thinking about getting some new headphones for my iRiver,
and wanted to know which are the best for listening for devy..

im sure it will take a mean pair of cans to withstand the brute force of Aliens sub drops and Infinitys subtleties...

so yeah, please spill your guts here, gloating about how good yours are! (please:))

I have Sony MDR-7506's, but they're fairly big, I use them while recording, but the album sounds AMAZING in them! Most albums do. They will run you between $80 and $120, though.

I wouldn't mind a set of Shure E series earphones for portable use, very nice!

When I was stuck on a noisy car journey the other week with standard earphones, the only thing I could really get to cut through properly was Aliean..whcih I was kind of surprised about, but it got me through it :)

Sennheiser HD 280 pro. Best $100-$200 investment you'll ever make...

I have a $40 pair of Koss noise-cancelling headphones that I've used on plane trips that works well in that environment.

AKG K 240M Headphones are the ones I use at home...

The only decent set I have right now is the Shure e2c's. I like them, but I have a feeling I would like better ones, too. :-D But, they're nice. Good, clean sound. Not very bass-y, though. I'm looking into Grado SR-80's (or the SR-60's) maybe. I'd really like some higher grade Shures, though. Nice.

Oh, and for the money, the Sony MDR-E828 earbuds can't be beat. I think they sound pretty clean and they're like $10 on Amazon.

I'm trying to work up the nerve to buy the e4c's one of these days. I hear the bass is much better. Audiophiles are funny, though. I mean real troo audiophiles. It's really entertaining to read the debates online. Check out http://www.headfi.org. Very interesting. Although, I seriously wonder how much difference there is between some headphones when you get up over $100.

oh, I almost forgot about the earbud thing, the Apple Ipod earbuds are really good sounding, and have a suprisingly accurate bass response (granted they're slightly uncomfortable). I'll have to try those sonys though.

Man oh man are you in a pissy mood. Would you like me to rub your feet and perhaps a schmoke and a pancake?

Oh no, those are among the worst headphones I've ever used. Absolutely terrible...I've owned two pair, and the second were blown out in a week.

I'll second the Shures. I have a wonderful pair of eC3s...got them on sale for $80. They're incredible, and make enjoying such wonderfully produced music such as Dev's quite an experience.

I have Sennheiser HD 212 Pros, and they own face. Dunno how much they are worth because I got them for my birthday, but those are good for Dev's music for sure.

The Sennheisers get really hot after awhile. They practically burn your fucken ear lobes off...

Yeah, there has to be something better then the apple earbuds. 3rd day with them now and the left side feels like it's half way to breaking. I was just suprised that earbuds could actually sound good...BUT, there has to be a better way. As for the sennheiser's I've never had a problem with overheating, and I've used them for hours at a time full blast doing studio work (editing, premixing, and whatever else) and have used them for just listening to music. The suckers are LOUD, but so stinkin accurate frequency wise. I used to use these Koss mid grade cams, and they had horrible frequency responce across the board, so DON'T ket Koss.
