And a reference to the acoustic album that has been mooted, that should be cool.

Ooo thats' cool. I loved the live acoustic versions of Sister and Hide Nowhere that were bonus tracks on Infinity. I wonder what songs he'll do for an acoustic? New ones more than likely.

Great interview there, one of the few interviews I've read within the last few years that I've actually been able to sit down and read word for word straight through (incidently, the other ones were either Devin or Trey Spruance).

That's a damn good interview. Interesting to hear the way he mentions that money-making is in the back of his mind as he makes his music and how his website only releases are the way he stays sane... so is he streamlining his SYL and DTB to sell records? An interesting thought. He certainly hasn't had a fully outlandish release since Infinity, but this definitey hasn't lowered the quality of Devin's output.
If anything Terria is just as good as Infinity, if a little less crazy. I always attributed this to Devin's headspace at the time being less crazy... Interesting. I mean obviously the records he makes are still very Devin and still very, very good but it would be interesting to see the visions as Devin had first thought them up and then compare that to what he ends up releasing. The only albums I could say seemed to be more conventional would be SYL and AE. The others still seem to the products of fairy unrestrained imagination.

Yeah, I agree. I think that both these records (which I love) were released at a time and in a way that gave Devin the boost he needed to get where he is today. I guess like he says in the interview, these records are good 'practice'.
Oh....and what is '
fairy unrestrained'...? Hehehe.

Obviously the financial aspect is important, since Dev lives from the music. But he doesn't say that it affects his songwriting. It's just the need to keep things going, as a songwriter, as a live performer, as a producer.

I hope this acoustic record finally reaches realization.

Wow that was a really cool and informative interview, I always thought that devins music would be great for an all acoustic album. I'd love to hear an acoustic album of his, damn that would be awesome. I'm going to try his way of just using a mixer to record stuff it seems alot easier, i usually plug stuff separately into my digi 002 but for messing around that seems like a really quick way to set up and record shit. I want to get a really good focusrite or other type of front end also instead of just using the normal preamps that are in the digi 002. again sweet interview thanks.
