I would've thought we'd get told in a newsletter, or some kind of announcement on the site or the board though... but you never know.

The new Vai album "Real Illusions: Reflections" has already been released. IMHO it´s boring, i heard most of the sounds before in older Vai-albums, so i didn´t buy it (i was a Vai fan once and have all the other albums). For me it was very disappointing, but many reviews on the vai.com-forum are quite good. So maybe a few people like it...

But, also very disappointing because i knew the aboved mentioned news: I could not hear Devin singing on this release.

"Reflections" will be just the first part of more "Real Illusions"-releases by Steve Vai, so maybe Devin is on the next one? Hopefully the next Vai-album will be better...

I just read in a french interview that nothing was really planned. Dev says "no idea about steve"

that sucks then, because the vai/dev thingy was pretty cool, good collaboration... hopefully sometime in the futuer we'll see something...

I've heard from someone who has a pre release of the new Vai album that there is a track on it that sounds a lot like 'Whookam", the one on Fire Garden that features Dev's voice played backwards... Perhaps this is it?
