I just use it for live off the floor practice tapes and field recording for films currently. I really like the combination of a stereo onboard mic and the option of using another 2 xlr inputs for live recording. I was using sm58's for jamroom stuff. Any recommendation on mic's for gig recording?
I've heard that the Zoom is fairly serviceable for concert recordings, but investing in some external microphones would probably be a good idea.
I'm very new to the recording ("taping") scene, but I was recommended various mics from soundprofessionals.com by several people. I decided on a low-budget $60 pair of omni mics (SP-BMC-9) - http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-b ... m/SP-BMC-9
As you can tell from the sound of my recordings of Dev's shows, these little mics are pretty good considering the price. Obviously there are better mics to be had, but I think the BMC-9s are a great deal. Check out what that site has to offer.
