They don't lose a thing unless you count imaginary currency.

If I may invoke the fictional Grateful Dead model here - it shows that fans WILL collect bootlegs AND official material. To have a fan-made video or audio recording of a show is completely kick ass but to have an officially produced, studio mastered live concert in an official DVD package with bells and whistles is what everyone wants and will gladly pay for it.

I would also add, speaking as the co-founder of a lossless audio and video trading web site, that music sharing over the various torrent sites can help make any good band gather a lot of momentum over the course of their tour.

I would also like to add that blah blah blah blahlablllbblbllll

Reviving this thread since I started it. I have the right! :bocul:

So I did record two of the shows, Boston (MA) and Clifton Park (NY). If anyone is interested, you can download the MP3s or FLACs here:

House of Blues

I emailed the venue Dev is playing at in New Zealand to find out if they have any wanky 'no camera' policies, but the dude there was cool - said no way, they don't - but that they hadn't heard from the band as to whether they're ok with cameras, etc. After reading this thread and seeing what Dev has to say on the matter, I am now relieved. :P

...And I'll be bringin' my camera along. Muahaha.

You're right, for some reason two of the FLAC files are corrupt :?

I'll fix that in the next day or two. Sorry about that! I know it's frustrating.

*EDIT UPDATE*
1-28-10 FLAC zip file is fixed. Sorry 'bout that. Enjoy!

www.keepvid.com can do that, and plenty more sites. Google is your friend.

In my opinion I think the 28th turned out better than the 29th because on the 29th I was raising my arms to take pictures and stuff (you can hear the sound here and there), whereas I was completely still the night before. I think both came out decent, though :P

I can hear the movement on the 29th but I think the mix was clearer. The 28th is pretty bass heavy. Sounds like it was a PA issue though. Since he's playing to clicks, wonder what a matrix would sound like? Obviously the vocal improvs will throw everything off but the tempos should be identical. I think I may cue them both up in audacity this weekend for an experiment. Overall, great quality and thanks for the effort!!! Tapers are the best!!!
I recently picked up a Zoom H4n and may look into getting a stand and some mic's for recording shows. I just use it for live off the floor practice tapes and field recording for films currently. I really like the combination of a stereo onboard mic and the option of using another 2 xlr inputs for live recording. I was using sm58's for jamroom stuff. Any recommendation on mic's for gig recording?
