Everybodies top bands are very similar. this seems a bit strange, but kind of makes sense.

Seems to be right in general...but exceptions make the rule...
Take me as an example...Never dug into "melodic" metal
except for Devins' stuff...in general I'm into quite raw and
minimalistic stuff...Excessive grindcore ( to me all about
"look how fast we can go" shit) can kiss my ass as well as
so called "virtuose" fuckers like Satriani, Petrucci or Vai.
I'm not even into "metal" in general... I like music that moves
something inside me, no matter what genre...

So here's MY top ten:

1. Devin Townsend "Biomech" "City" "Infinity"
I won't part them, for to me it's the holy trinity of music

2. Type O Negative "October Rust"

3. Depeche Mode "Violator"

4. Kyuss "Blues for the red sun", "Welcome to Sky Valley",
" ...and the circus leaves town..."

5. Nine Inch Nails "The Downward Spiral"

6. Queens of the Stone Age "Rated R/Feel good hit of the summer",
"Q.O.T.S.A."

7. Schweisser "Autobahn zur Hölle", "Eisenkopf", "Willkommen im Club",
"Heiland", "Bitte warten"

8. Sepultura "Chaos A.D."

9. Grave Digger "Heart of Darkness"

10. Machine Head "The more things change"

Non-Devin favorites in a non-particular order:

Alice Cooper (all albums)
Soundgarden (all albums)
Usurper ("Cryptobeast")
Taraf de Haïdouks ("Band of Gypsies")
Spitalul de Urgenta (all albums)
Molotov (all albums)

...and a helluva lot more!
