I just think of the songs on OM more individually I guess. I think of say Terria as a whole, while when I think of OM I think of the individual songs more so than the vibe from the whole album. Yes a bunch of songs slapped togethor is an overstatment but I do that a lot.

I see Terria more as a whole too, but since some songs of this album feel really connected, it's not a shame when another album's songs seem more individual in comparison... I just associated really negative things with "a bunch...", that's all.

Overstatements can be quite useful to keep the discussion going

I see OM as one album, but a very diverse one. Loosely knit, but still one piece.

Terria my favorite album, but this week I think Deadhead is my favorite song. That heart-searing vocal performance is phenominal.

Ocean Machine - Biomech

The album that really started it all for me. One of the best pieces of music of the last 15 years.

The first seven songs on Terria come close and so does Accelerated Evolution - especially Deadhead and Suicide.

Oh, I had to go for Terria. It was a close call between Infinity and Physicist too, but I finally made the cut, lol. Terria and AE are extra special to me as they were two of the only five CD's I had with me on a long and arduous field studies course for college. We went all throughout the deserts of the SW for four long weeks hiking, camping, and doing tons of homework... 22 people, most of them never camped before, all crammed into two 11 person vans with all of their gear. If it wasn't for the beauty of the desert I would have killed every single one of them except the professors and a sweet middle aged couple that came along. Anyways, Terria really clicked more than ever with me on that trip, and it really is my favorite listen when I'm camping or backpacking, or just roadtripping.

I listen to whatever album that suits my emotions at the time. That is what I love about Devin's wonderful music....
But at the moment...it would be Infinity. It is rather a beautiful album.

Hmm...I find the votes rather unexpected. I love all the albums, however I find it a surprise that Terria was that high. Love the Canadian aspect of it, and maybe it's just that there's a lot of Canadian's on this board, but I don't know if much of it could be understood as well outside Canada. Much like most people outside Saskatchewan don't get Corner Gas ;-)

By a slim margin AE is my fav...mainly because Deadhead is my fav DTB song. And Away is phenominal too.

Certainly Canada and its nature was a big influence for this record, but I don't think that you have to be canadian or that you must have been there to get the feeling behind it. And Mountain, Deep Peace or Down And Under (just as examples) manage to take me to places I've never been before with ease, so I don't think I'm missing something there

Everyone who has ever seen beautiful landscapes can simply put on Terria and visit those places again. I've said it before and I say it again - to me, Terria is the most visual piece of music I've ever heard.

Yeah. I hear ya.
"It's all in the heat of the moment!"
God I love that vibrato of his.

My favourite ones are Terria and Infinity. Accelerated Evolution takes the third place on my list.
Actually I haven't even heard Ocean Machine yet. I don't know if it's great because I've heard that it's a lot different from Terria and Infinity.

For the longest time my top three were

Terria
Infinity
Ocean Machine

Now it is:

Infinity
Ocean Machine
Terria

But those three are so goddamn close that it really doesn't matter too much what order you put them in. After all this time I go with "Infinity" b/c I believe it is the most original, the most creative. Placing Physicist 4th and AE 5th is easy. AE is the only album that has weak tracks on it, not that they're bad, but being a fan of Dev's one tends to get rather SPOILED. Hehe.

Strangely, Infinity is probably my least-favorite Devin project. To me it sounds like it's all over the place, not unlike the first Strapping record. Bad Devil, Ants, Christeen; these songs just don't have a particularily strong effect on me. Having said that, however, the project does contain some of his best work: Truth, Soul Driven, Dynamics, and the glorious intro to Processional, "Star Child Rise".

Does anyone else think that Truth sounds like a whole chorus of fucking heavenly angels, or am I just weird?

I couldn't argee more, personally i'd rate them as 'Terria', 'Biomech', 'Accelerated Evolution', 'Physicist' and then 'Infinity'. I'll admit that it did take me a while to fully absorb 'Physicist' at first but after a few listens it really is a rewarding listen. 'Infinity' is also an excellent album don't get me wrong but i just find the combination of 'Truth', 'Christeen' and 'Bad Devil' a bit monotonous nowadays.
