Archetype wrote:I know what you mean, I voted for Infinity too. I would have thought more people would vote on that album. I think it has also to do with the fact that we're both musicians. Probably musicians find Infinity the best album, because of the way it was written, the rhythms, etc. Also the fact that it took him like, what 8 months or something, to record this album. That to me is reason enough to think this is the best album. Devin's perseverance is something which inspires me always.
Actually, I am a musician and I feel Ocean Machine is the best simply because it has zero faults. The production is flawless, the songs are all equally amazing with not one of them being needless or mediocre, the lyrics are inspiring, the mood is so unlike anything else I've ever heard. The melodies and harmonies on OM are so unique that they still sometimes give me chills. The entire album flows perfectly as a whole, all the songs interweaving to form a lush dreamscape. Although Truth remains my favorite Dev song, Infinity is too unfocused for me to choose it over OM. This is merely my opinion mind you.
I also, as I stated earlier, can't choose Terria or AE, although they are both amazing, over OM because I really don't care for the strat sound or the vibrato/butt-clench/rod-of-dry-ice-up-the-anus vocals Devin sometimes lets out. OM is as close to perfection as I've ever heard.
