Probably musicians find Infinity the best album, because of the way it was written, the rhythms, etc. Also the fact that it took him like, what 8 months or something, to record this album. That to me is reason enough to think this is the best album. Devin's perseverance is something which inspires me always.

Actually, I am a musician and I feel Ocean Machine is the best simply because it has zero faults. The production is flawless, the songs are all equally amazing with not one of them being needless or mediocre, the lyrics are inspiring, the mood is so unlike anything else I've ever heard. The melodies and harmonies on OM are so unique that they still sometimes give me chills. The entire album flows perfectly as a whole, all the songs interweaving to form a lush dreamscape. Although Truth remains my favorite Dev song, Infinity is too unfocused for me to choose it over OM. This is merely my opinion mind you.

I also, as I stated earlier, can't choose Terria or AE, although they are both amazing, over OM because I really don't care for the strat sound or the vibrato/butt-clench/rod-of-dry-ice-up-the-anus vocals Devin sometimes lets out. OM is as close to perfection as I've ever heard.

nnggghhrrraaarrrgggghhhh... i think Im'm Morphing into some kind of fucked robotic sea anemony that fell from space... the spaceship superstar kicked my ass and now nobodys here on terra firma... must evolve into a symbiotice relationship with this earth day.. faster... faster... aceelerate.... evolve!!! Now i'm infinite...

RGGGRRRRAAAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Im the DEVY BEAST!!!!!!

god knows dudes, its all freakin awsome. Phycisit was underrated... i've overlistenned OM and Terria...Infinity was my mind set for a better part of time listenning to DEV... And AE has come along and absolutely broken my jaw.. I need to pick up my teeth... They got knocked into the terria artwork... ouch...

I think Im a bit of a nutcase, so the scizophrenic mood of infinity wins me over... AAARRRGGGHHHH now Im regretting it the rest are too good...

My vote goes to Ocean Machine. Eventhough Terria and Accelerated Evolution are also my top favorites. Ocean Machine stuck with me more then the other two did.

OCEAN MACHINE

the first album I heard by devin and it changed my whole way of thinking not just because of the content its shear volume that spoke to me but the mood it placed me in I vivid viusals for every song on that album, for eg

Night : Cedy Motel in america somewhere like the streets of chicago its night time with a neon light out side the room window its raining heavily with people screaming out side and im sat in a chair just looking out the window.

Its this why I became somewhat obsessed with Devins Music I am obessed with music but to be ocean machine is perfect, the perfect music I can still listen to the album and get the same tingles it gave me in 97 when i first heard it. But to be honest every album has done that for me in someway, with the exeption of physicist, whihc still an amazing album did hit my G spot like the others.

Dev Ocean Machine is a triumphant displace of musical genuis, and i will to the day i die love that album.

DONT EVER STOP WRITING.

I voted INFINITY..AND ALSO AM ONE WHO CANT BELIEVE THE LACK OF NOTICE THIS ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE RECEIVES... I am also a musician... ARCHETYPE, AND YOU WROTE...

I know what you mean, I voted for Infinity too. I would have thought more people would vote on that album. I think it has also to do with the fact that we're both musicians. I am amazed that Infinity is so low. I bet if AE wasn't a new release, it would be a tad higher. I love AE but Infinity is better in my opinion.

Accelerated Evolution. Oddly enough, it was my first DTB album, and it has stuck with me more than the others.

TERRIA!!

Ocean Machine is a great album, but Terria just blows me away every time I listen to it.

1) Terria
2) Ocean Machine
3) Accelerated Evolution
4) Infinity
5) Physicist

The gap between Ocean Machine and Accelerated Evolution is next to 0!! 8)

I came to the realization last night that I like Physicist better than Terria, Infinity and AE. I remember back before it came out, Devin said it was some of the best stuff he had ever written, and I'd have to agree with him. Listened to it on headphones last night after smoking a joint, and it put me in such a good mood...especially "Material" and "Kingdom". Fucking awesome...

well, I think it's a great record, and I don't use drugs. So that can't be it :)
I love the A power chord tuning, I don't know how he does it, but the guitars sound absolutely amazing. Gene drums like a king on the record, and the songs are very well written. I even like the last song, the mutant form of Bad Devil.
I wouldn't say it's the best one though. I think all his stuff is amazing, and they differ so much per album that I couldn't say which one was the best. It's like choosing which Harry Potter was the worst one, because they all sucked.
It really depends on my mood, but I've been listening to Terria the most lately.

Hehehehehehe!!! Right!!

Archetype wrote:It really depends on my mood...

The same for me. There's a Dev's record for any mood!! :D

Archetype wrote:...but I've been listening to Terria the most lately.

I put Terria at the first place because is the one I listen more frequently.
I LOVE Physicist, even if I put it on the 5th place!
