Earbuds are bad for your ears, I recommend against them. I hear good things about the Sennheisers, my brother really enjoys his too. I still need to pick up a pair of good headphones, but have heard excellent things about sennheiser.

I don't really know much about them (And have no plans to get any, but out of interest...) why are they bad for your ears?

My old cans were Sennheisers...got a really nice pair for $50. They were durable, but I burned them out after about a year and a half...but for that price, that's great, considering how much "punishment" they got.

I read in a magazine that too much exposure to them can cause you to go deaf. I dont exactly remember why, but I think it was because of how close the speakers are to your eardrums.

I'm pretty sure too much exposure to any headphones can make you go deaf. I think it something to do with high volume levels and loud music, but I'm not sure...
I've got Koss UR-26s, I think they're called. Didn't much like them at first, but after burning them in for a while they started to sound much better. They are pretty comfortable, and collapsibility is an asset. I'd still like to try some Sennheisers, though. Heard lots of great things about them.

An update... I just got a Christmas present! A pair of Grado SR-80's. Man!!! They rock! They cost about $100 US but they sound awesome and are designed to make rock music sound awesome. And, they do! They are incredibly detailed. I think the ear pads are a tad uncomfortable right now, but I'm given to understand that they actually soften up because of the natural oils in your skin. But, some people suggest buying new pads to work with them. However, the pads will change the sound you get, too. That's what people say, anyway.
Anyway, I'm listening to "Truth" right now and it sounds very full and rich. I don't know how else to describe it. I listened to Rush - Moving Pictures - "Tom Sawyer," "Red Barchetta," and "YYZ" earlier. Oh man, the detail! I could actually hear the echo of the snare drum in the studio.
And, in the middle of "YYZ" when there's the sound of breaking glass (you *have* heard that, right?) you can hear the tinkling of the shards for a considerable amount of time.
Oooh, speaking of "Time", I think I might have to listen to some Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.
So, yeah, consider the Grado SR-80's. Niiiiice cans.

Looping green and blue, and you will go letting yourself certainly the meal once again through the head. But after the departure, you feel free and happily like after your first orgasm - and you will beg for addition. - German review of SYL's "Alien"

I love you.
Why am I too nice? Do you mean that I'm overly kind in my review of the headphones? Or, was it sarcasm? If it was a complement you'll have to excuse me as I'm not used to getting those in internet forums.

I really really like them. I'm gonna go kiss my wife and tell her. Again.
