Given how massive and influential the AMG site is, their Devin section could be a lot better. Their Devography is incomplete, ordered and dated wrongly--nothing before Accelerated Evolution has even got a write-up--and the "bio" is laughable. Extract:
"...A stint with the satiric punk band Punky Bruster yielded the Cooked on Phonics LP before Townsend began work on the second Strapping Young Lad disc, 1997's City; he next formed Ocean Machine for 1999's Biomech. Ocean Machine: Biomech appeared two years later."
:?

Kinda surprising for an artist as relatively big as you-know-who. Far smaller (and worse) acts listed on that site have got better treatment than that.

Yep', I don't get this, there's a lot of bios where you can read "Devin Townsend (ex-vai, ex-infinity, ex-physicist) blablablah"... "Wake up, those last two were albums guys^^"

BTW, about Ocean Machine, the first release was under the band name Ocean Machine and the album name was Biomech ?
Then it was rereleaseed under as being done by Devin ,and the album name was then changed to Ocean Machine: Biomech ? (and Things beyond Things was added, and maybe already there on the japanese version).
Cuz' the old cover hasn't "Devin Townsend" on top of it.

BTW, there's a correction/modification option. So if a native english speaker want to update it, I guess it's possible.

Anyone that sees "Devin Townsend, ex-physicist", then checks out the pictures of him in lab gear before listening to that album is in for a surprise...

There are simply far too many reviewers out there who do it for free CDs. Sure, that is a great perk, I love that aspect of reviewing CDs, but my goal is to spread the love! =) I used to post reviews here and on other boards long before I did it for any mag/website.

Take the Blabbermouth review, for example. Great review, but its extremely ambiguous and the guy acts as if every Devin album is a DTB album. Those reviewers are they type that get a CD, listen to the first minute of a song, skip to another part and then move to the next. Then they write a review that is very vague and oftentimes flat out incorrect.

I wish more reviewers actually CARED about what they review.

Don't know if I ever checked this site - probably not - but I really like those three answers between which you can choose in the poll

Yeah, I don't know why AMG has pretty well ignored Dev. And their review of AE was pathetic. The reviewer spends most of the review talking about Pearl Jam and other bands which basically have nothing to do with DTB.

It's now had the full review treatment at AMG (sorry if this has already been mentioned elsewhere--I don't have enough time to check the whole forum). It got 3.5 out of 5 stars--or half a star less than Accelerated Evolution. Hmm. :? The review itself is pretty crappy IMO (short and entirely uninformative), but at least the facts are straight this time (sorta--the four members of the DTB that aren't Devin might dispute it being called "Townsend's 2006 solo outing"). The accompanying 30 second song samples are of considerably higher quality than what I've heard elsewhere, so anyone that doesn't have the album yet and is pissed off with those appalling Amazon clips might want to try Barnes & Noble (who use the same samples as AMG, but don't require you to sign up to listen to 'em). Otherwise, search the AMG Albums database for Synchestra--it's the first and only 100% match.
