Leaks and downloading

Since Devin and the crew have been kind enough to record another DTB album, in regard to eventual leaks and downloading said leaks before the release date of the album, I'm curious who is going to stand strong and who is going to be a spineless weakling.

There has been one instance where I caved and downloaded three or four samples of songs from an upcoming album (Opeth's Still Life) and instantly regretted it as I knew I was ruining the experience of hearing an album in its intended form for the first time, with the album booklet in front of me. I biased myself on the songs I heard and no matter how many times I listen to the album now, my first reaction to those samples I downloaded are now etched into my memory and will always have the most influence on how I regard the album as a whole.

So, I put it to all you DTBites - stand firm or puss out?

Very biased, indeed. Even I download Synchestra, you can be fucking sure I'll buy it as soon as it hits the stores.

I choose not to download stuff cos I just love the experience of putting ina anew cd. I don't have any problem with anyone else diong it as long as they buy it. There is the argument that it can spoil it to hear it in poor quailty etc, or to download unmastered versions etc, but I guess that's a risk some people are willing to take

definitely not going to download it. I love the experience of putting in a brand new cd and hearing it all for the first time. Don't wanna ruin that as it can be a really incredible, memorable experience sometimes. (Terria, AE)

definitely not going to download it. I love the experience of putting in a brand new cd and laying on my bed flicking through the booklet.

I will not download this record! It would spoil everything for me if I did. I shall wait for Synchestra, just like I waited for Alien to come out.

I will not download this album. Not because I am against downloading music, but simply because I know that it will be worth waiting for. Some things need to be savoured and waiting is part of that experience.

Sounds quite sexy actually!

Since the moment I heard about Synchestra, I've been determined not to d/l any of it, except for any officially released sample tracks which may appear.

That depends on when it's going to leak. If it's only a week or two before the realese date, I won't. If it's a lot more, I'll probabaly end up downloading it, but I'm definitely buying it the day it hits the stores.

Well, Ill probably download it. Ill have it preordered through hevydevy, but Im out of town the day it comes out, so I won't be able to pick it up. Ill go insane knowing its out but I cant listen. So Ill probably have my downloaded version so I can listen to it on January 30th, and then listen to my cd when I get home :)
